Oman Air cuts flights to Bangladesh, Pakistan, and trims services to India, aiming for strategic network optimization and financial improvement.
In a bid to improve its financial outcomes, Oman’s premier airline has revamped its service offerings, altering the destinations and frequency of its flights to key countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The airline disclosed that it has discontinued services to Islamabad, Lahore, Colombo, and Chittagong, while introducing services to Sialkot in Pakistan, as reported by Khaleej Times.
For its operations to India, the carrier has opted to reduce the number of flights to certain areas, while also increasing the capacity for flights to Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.
In a related development, SalamAir, another airline from Oman, in November 2023, restarted its services to five crucial Indian cities: Hyderabad, Calicut, Jaipur, Trivandrum, and Lucknow, after previously halting them due to restrictions on flight rights allocations to India.
Furthermore, Oman Air announced that it will seasonally operate flights to three destinations: Trabzon in the summer and Zurich and Malé in the winter, to align with the varying demand for travel.
Starting from this summer, Oman Air has implemented scheduling adjustments to better accommodate the travel needs of the Omani market and enhance connectivity for travelers entering and leaving Oman. This includes updating flight schedules to secure more advantageous time slots that not only offer convenience for those flying directly but also improve connection times.
The airline emphasized its commitment to adapting its strategy in response to the evolving market conditions and opportunities, with the aim of maximizing the economic and social benefits for Oman.
