Onam: Harvest Festivities at Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru

Thursday, August 19, 2021

Favorite

Onam is primarily a harvest festival marked in the southern state of Kerala. Not only is the abundance of harvest and the agrarian glories of the land celebrated, it also marks the mythical return of the righteous King Mahabali, bringing together people from the community in a festive manner.

During the ten-day festivities of Onam, people celebrate while decorating their houses, wearing new clothes and participating in dance performances. However, the traditional feast called sadhya takes the centre stage and serves to bring people together to break bread. An array of special dishes comprises the ritual of the Onam meal or sadhya, a traditional feast of vegetarian dishes (typically served on a fresh banana leaf).

Chefs of Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru have curated a vegetarian thali sadhya, replete with customary traditional delicacies. Starting with crisp banana fritters, to the customary pachadi or yoghurt in variants such as pineapple, Mangalorean cucumber and beetroot, kizhangu vada curry made with lentil dumplings, and a lush, sweet ending with the irresistible ada pradaman with steamed rice flakes, cooked in jaggery-laced coconut milk, guests can enjoy lunch and dinner with this delightful, vegetarian thali.

Venue: CUR8, Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru
Dates: August 19-23, 2021
Meal Period: lunch and dinner
Service Style: thali
Pricing: INR 1500 + taxes per person

The Sunday Brunch menu of August 22, 2021 will have Onam specials, as well.
