In a significant development within the travel industry, Philippine Airlines is making strides in transforming the Philippines into a sought-after leisure destination for Saudi millennials. At the Saudi Travel Market 2024 in Riyadh, Ricky Solomon Pacquing, the Country Manager for Philippine Airlines in Saudi Arabia, shared insights into the airline’s strategic initiatives aimed at attracting young Saudi travelers.

Since its launch in 2013, Philippine Airlines has been a key connector between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, offering daily and non-stop direct flights utilizing the Airbus A330. This service has not only enhanced passenger comfort through its economy and business class offerings but has also laid the groundwork for cultural and leisure exchanges between the two nations.

In anticipation of the region’s upcoming expositions and the increasing demand for religious travel, Philippine Airlines is exploring the expansion of its services, including charter flights to Jeddah for Hajj pilgrims. This move underscores the airline’s commitment to facilitating diverse travel needs and enhancing its presence in the Middle East.

The shift in focus towards promoting the Philippines as a prime leisure destination for Saudis, especially millennials, marks a departure from the airline’s traditional labor traffic. Solomon highlighted the growing trend of young Saudis traveling in groups, drawn to the Philippines’ pristine beaches and vibrant leisure scene. This demographic, including Saudi families, honeymooners, and young professionals, represents a promising market for leisure travel.

To commemorate its 83rd anniversary, Philippine Airlines has launched an “Anniversary Sale,” offering attractive fares to destinations beyond the Philippines, such as Bali, Bangkok, Singapore, and Malaysia. This initiative aims to cater to the adventurous spirit of young travelers seeking new experiences.

Despite the lean period during Ramadan due to fasting practices, Philippine Airlines continues to adapt its strategies to meet the seasonal travel patterns in the region. With 80% of its revenue in Saudi Arabia coming from the travel trade, the airline emphasizes the importance of B2B relationships, even as travel technology evolves.

Philippine Airlines’ focused efforts on marketing, strategic expansions, and service enhancements are set to solidify the Philippines’ position as a top leisure destination for Saudi millennials, fostering deeper cultural connections and contributing to the global travel landscape.
