The ITB Berlin Convention 2024 is set to lead the way as a trailblazer in the travel and tourism industry. Operating under the theme “Pioneer the Transition in Travel & Tourism. Together,” the event, taking place from March 5 to 7 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, will bring together experts from business, science, and politics. The goal is to engage in discussions surrounding innovative concepts and strategies for a travel industry undergoing significant transformation.

Participants can anticipate a diverse program featuring numerous presentations, discussions, best-practice examples, and expert interviews across 17 themed tracks and four live stages. The agenda covers current trends in marketing, sales, technology, hospitality, and destination management. It also addresses broader issues, such as navigating political, technological, and ecological challenges. A glimpse into the convention’s speakers and topics is available at itb.com/convention.

Functioning as a global think tank, the ITB Berlin Convention 2024 caters to a travel industry grappling with substantial global adaptation processes and critical decisions. The impacts of climate change, the rise of artificial intelligence, persistent workforce shortages, and the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis necessitate a reevaluation of established business models and revenue strategies for many companies. The convention offers a wealth of insights from corporate and startup experiences, scientific and technological expertise, and assessments from political and non-governmental organizations to address a wide array of interests and tasks within the industry. The World Tourism Cities Foundation (WTCF) is co-hosting the ITB Berlin Convention.

Within the “Future Track,” attendees will explore innovative trends and ideas from a global perspective. Engaging presentations by key figures like Glenn Fogel (CEO, Booking Holdings), Charuta Fadnis (Senior Vice President, Research and Product Strategy at Phocuswright), and Jeremy Sampson (CEO, The Travel Foundation) promise enlightening insights. The “Future Work Track” will specifically address the industry’s future viability, with experts like Corne Dejkmans (Research Director Academy for Tourism, Breda University of Applied Science) and Bonita Grupp (Managing Director, Trigema) discussing strategies amidst the current shortage of skilled workers.

Under the “Responsible Tourism Track,” convention participants will deliberate on the contribution of global tourism to sustainability, climate protection, and social justice. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) partners in this track. Notable speakers include Külli Kraner (Head of Tourism, Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications) and Laura Meyer (CEO, Hotelplan Group).

Access to the ITB Berlin Convention is included in the trade visitor ticket for ITB Berlin. Selected sessions will be streamed on the ITBxplore platform. Further details can be found at itb.com/convention. The comprehensive program and additional track information will be available online from mid-January 2024.
