ITB Berlin 2024

Albania is poised to showcase its remarkable tourism offerings as the official host country of ITB Berlin 2025, heralding an era of new opportunities and visibility on the global stage. This announcement, made during a partnership agreement signing by Albania’s Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, and Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, underscores Albania’s emerging prominence in the Mediterranean travel scene.

Minister Kumbaro’s enthusiasm for her homeland is infectious, as she describes Albania as a “hidden gem in the Mediterranean with a good tourism infrastructure.”

Albania is setting the stage to defy the usual stereotypes by offering a mystical allure to travelers in search of new destinations and experiences. Beyond its scenic landscapes of sea, mountains, rivers, and forests, it’s the “Albanian spirit” and the legendary hospitality of its locals that truly define the country’s charm.

This hospitality is deeply rooted in Albanian culture, epitomized by the saying, “In Albania, the house belongs to the guest and God,” illustrating the royal treatment visitors can anticipate.

Albania offers a rich tapestry of attractions, from the pristine beaches of its coastline to the rugged beauty of the Albanian Alps in the north. The country is unique in its compactness, allowing tourists to easily traverse from the sun-soaked shores to the alpine trails within a few hours.

The recently declared Wild River National Park, home to the Vjosa River, is a testament to Albania’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage. Meanwhile, the Albanian Alps beckon adventurers with their untouched mountain villages and extensive hiking paths, offering an immersive experience into Albania’s serene landscapes and rich traditions.

The burgeoning interest in Albania is reflected in the latest tourism statistics, which reveal a significant upsurge in international visitors. Albania welcomed 10.1 million tourists from abroad last year, with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reporting that the country experienced the third-highest growth worldwide and the highest in Europe in the first six months of 2023.

This year has already seen a 50% increase in international tourists compared to the same period last year, signaling Albania’s rising appeal as a tourism destination.

As the spotlight turns to Albania in the lead-up to ITB Berlin 2025, the country is gearing up to present its best tourism products to the world.

This prestigious platform will not only highlight Albania’s diverse attractions but also reinforce its position as a must-visit destination for those seeking unique and enriching travel experiences.

With its blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and unparalleled hospitality, Albania is ready to enchant the global travel trade industry and tourists alike.
