Tourism Malaysia Teams Up With OPPO Malaysia to Unlock New Digital Tourism Opportunities Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

Tourism Malaysia teaming up with OPPO Malaysia to boost digital tourism through smart technology and innovative travel experiences ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026. The strategic partnership is set to leverage the expertise of both organisations to enhance Malaysia’s appeal as a premier lifestyle tourism destination through the power of cutting-edge smartphone technology, innovative digital marketing and immersive travel experiences. Through a series of promotional activities and creative mobile photography campaigns, the collaboration is set to highlight Malaysia’s stunning natural landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage and diverse attractions to a global audience. Furthermore, it is also set to inspire greater numbers of international visitors to come and experience the country for themselves, taking pictures and sharing their experiences online, in support of Malaysia’s broader goals to boost international visitor arrivals, extend lengths of stay and increase tourism revenue.
The official signing ceremony took place at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, bringing together senior representatives from Tourism Malaysia and OPPO Malaysia. The agreement was formalised by Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Director General (Promotions), Mohd Akbal Setia, and OPPO Malaysia’s Marketing Director, Monica Qin. The partnership reflects both organisations’ commitment to advancing digital innovation in tourism, promoting Malaysia’s cultural and natural attractions, and creating new opportunities for travellers to discover, experience and share the country’s distinctive destinations through modern digital platforms.
“We are proud to collaborate with OPPO Malaysia, as this partnership not only showcases the distinctive beauty and character of Malaysia, but also celebrates the remarkable creativity of our diverse and talented photographers through art and imagery. This collaboration builds on our previous Strategic Communication Programme in Kelantan, which involved 15 participants from OPPO Malaysia. We are pleased to continue this collaboration in highlighting Malaysia’s unique destinations and experiences through the power of visual storytelling,” said Mr Mohd Akbal Setia, Deputy Director General (Promotions) and Head of the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 Secretariat, Tourism Malaysia.
He also added that the initiative comes at a timely moment, with direct flights connecting Singapore and Jakarta to Kota Bharu making it more convenient for regional visitors to discover Kelantan. “This provides an ideal opportunity to shine a spotlight on Kelantan as a distinctive cultural destination, known for its rich heritage, vibrant traditional arts and iconic local gastronomy, including Nasi Kerabu and other traditional delicacies.”

Under the new collaboration, Tourism Malaysia and OPPO Malaysia will introduce joint marketing campaigns and engaging tourism initiatives designed to enhance the travel experience. By using OPPO’s advanced smartphone technology and innovative mobile photography features, the partnership aims to encourage visitors to explore Malaysia’s diverse attractions and capture memorable moments throughout their journeys. The initiative also seeks to encourage longer tourist stays, increase visitor spending and strengthen tourism revenue by combining creative mobile photography experiences with carefully designed lifestyle and travel activities.
“At OPPO, we have always believed that the most powerful stories are told through imagery, and Malaysia has no shortage of stories worth telling,” said Monica Qin, Marketing Director of OPPO Malaysia in her speech. “We are grateful to Tourism Malaysia for our continued collaboration in bringing this campaign to life. We continue to be in awe of the photographers and content creators who took up the Find Series and made it their own — their instinct for finding beauty in the unexpected is what gives this campaign its soul. Together, we hope these images inspire the world to see Malaysia not just as a destination, but as an experience waiting to be discovered.

The partnership comes at a significant time for Malaysia’s tourism industry, as the country extends its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign into 2027 to strengthen its position as a leading international travel destination. The extended campaign creates fresh opportunities to attract global visitors, promote lesser-known attractions and showcase Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, natural landscapes and lifestyle experiences. By introducing advanced smartphone photography and digital storytelling, the collaboration aims to inspire travellers to discover more destinations across the country and share their experiences through social media and other online platforms. This approach is expected to increase the visibility of local attractions while creating new opportunities for businesses operating across Malaysia’s tourism sector.
Malaysia’s tourism industry has continued to demonstrate steady growth, providing a positive outlook for the upcoming promotional initiatives. Between January and August 2026, the country recorded 28.8 million international visitor arrivals, representing a 1.8% increase compared with 28.2 million during the corresponding period in 2025. These figures highlight Malaysia’s continued appeal among international visitors and provide a foundation for further tourism development. The collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and OPPO Malaysia is designed to build on this momentum by introducing technology-led travel experiences, improving visitor engagement and encouraging tourists to explore more of the country. Through coordinated marketing activities and innovative digital campaigns, both organisations aim to support continued growth in international arrivals throughout 2027.
Looking ahead, Tourism Malaysia intends to strengthen its cooperation with leading technology companies to accelerate digital transformation across the tourism industry. Such partnerships are expected to introduce fresh approaches to destination marketing, making it easier for travellers to discover attractions, plan memorable journeys and share authentic experiences. By combining modern technology with Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings, these initiatives aim to stimulate travel demand, support local tourism businesses and encourage responsible tourism development. The broader objective is to establish a more innovative, competitive and sustainable tourism industry that continues to attract international visitors while delivering long-term economic benefits to communities across Malaysia.
