Get away from the fundamentals this Friendship Day and explore fresh ways to celebrate. Try a unique iced coffee in Thailand, wander around Japan’s distinctive theme cafés, or drink tea in St. Moritz’s historic hotels.

Here are some of the most unique spots and drinks they serve around the world:

Savour Thailand’s special iced coffee

The Lalitta Café in Chiang Rai, Bubble in the Forest in Bangkok, Versailles de Flore in Chiang Mai, Ma Doo Bua Café in Phuket, and Mong Chang Café in Pattaya are just a few of the quirky garden-themed eateries, pet-themed cafes, and retro-style diners with pulsating ambience that Thailand has to offer.

Don’t forget to taste Oliang, a Thai iced coffee. This popular beverage is composed with Robusta coffee grounds, condensed milk and a variety of grains and seeds such as cardamom, maize and sesame seeds. Visit the RG420 cannabis café in Khao San for a more unique experience.

Visit Phuket’s Chalong Bay Rum Distillery to sample their 100% natural rum made from the finest sugarcane. A guided tour of the distillery is also available, as is an interactive cocktail-making session. The rum may be sipped while enjoying a Michelin-starred chef’s exquisite meal. While on the trip, try the renowned Chalong Bay Mojito.

Say Hai to Japan’s vividly themed cafés

Japan is known for its intriguing culture and one-of-a-kind experiences, and its cafés range from charming to strange. Pokémon Cafe, Straw Hat Cafe, Ufotable Cafe, Totoro Cafe and Bakery, and Animate Cafe Ikebukuro are all great places to spend an afternoon if you’re an anime fan.

Places like Maidreamin Cafe, Vampire Cafe, and Harry the Hedgehog Cafe are ideal for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. There are also distinctive animal and bird themed cafés, such as Shibuya City’s Tokyo Snake Centre and Alpaca Café, Cafe Calico, Asakusa Nekoen, Temari no Ouchi, and Neko no Mise, Fukuro no Mise, and Owl Cafe Akiba Fukurou. Aoyama Flower Market Tea House is a pleasant and cheap institution loaded with bright flowers for nature enthusiasts.

Sumiyaki Coffee, a specialty of Japan, is a must-try. Sumiyaki Coffee is roasted with sumi (charcoal), which gives the coffee beans a smokey yet balanced scent and improves its taste profile as well as shelf-life.

Try Qatar’s special ice gahwa

As they tour the world through Qatar’s cafés, coffee fans may experience everything from gahwa to lattes to cortado. In the heart of Doha’s cultural centre, the Msheireb Downtown Quarter is home to numerous outstanding coffee businesses, including Rusk Artisanal Bakery, Arabica, and The Ministry of Coffee in its stunning Barahat Msheireb town square. Visitors may take a cup of their favourite specialty coffee, meander about appreciating the architecture, and then visit the Msheireb Museums, which are housed in four old mansions.

Kava Koffee in Katara Cultural Village offers specialised blends that make for an ideal pick-me-up while taking a leisurely stroll through the art galleries, stores, and exhibition spaces. The iced gahwa available at the Duhail Sports Club near Qatar University offers a modern twist on the traditional gahwa.

Sip tea like a royal in St. Moritz

Tea is equally as popular in Switzerland’s opulent ski resort of St. Moritz as it is in the United Kingdom. This alpine retreat takes great pleasure in its admiration for good teas, which can be found in sumptuous hotel lobbies, intimate tea rooms, and coffee shops.

Most of the day, the major hotels in St. Moritz, such as the magnificent Kulm Hotel and the Kempinski major Hotel des Bains, expose their elegant lobbies to the public. They are recognised for serving freshly brewed teas and nibbles and are the ideal spot to enjoy refined afternoon tea in classy settings.

Visit the ageless lobby of Badrutt’s Palace, known as Le Grand Hall, for a regal tea party. Relax in an old armchair with a cup of tea, savouring the delicious idleness while enjoying treats from the in-house bakery. The menu has 28 different varieties of tea from across the world, encouraging you to sit back, relax, and go on an incredible sensory adventure.

Soak at Cafés with a view in Seychelles

Each of Seychelles’ renowned islands provides a unique café experience. The cafés on Mahé provide a vibrant environment, but cafés on La Digue reflect the calm Seychellois way of life. Cafe des Arts sprawls along Anse Volbert’s beach in Praslin, with rustic wooden cabanas lying on the sandbank, giving a great environment for quiet and personal eating.

Wildflour Cafe, located only minutes from Victoria’s busy city, is another popular tourist and local hangout.

The café features a lovely outdoor atmosphere with a green style, with a strong emphasis on healthful cuisine and the use of fresh, locally produced foods. The café also has a bat-viewing station, which adds to the mystery.

The Takamaka Rum Distillery tour is a must-do for any rum enthusiast. The trip concludes with a tasting session at the Rum Shack, where you may sample a variety of Takamaka rums while snacking on tasty food. This tour leaves you with a lasting appreciation for the craftsmanship involved, as well as a desire to carry a bit of this liquid treasure home with you.
