Relaunched historic Scottish hotel offers elegant retreat

A Scottish hotel group has breathed new life into a historic gem, the Knipoch House Hotel, dating back to the 1600s. Situated just outside Oban and overlooking Loch Feochan, this 26-bedroom hotel is the newest addition to the Solas Collection portfolio, following a £1m investment in refurbishments.

The hotel boasts a rich history and has been carefully redesigned to offer an elegant and tranquil experience for guests. From the wood-panelled reception hall to the firelit lounge and three atmospheric dining rooms, every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to provide a relaxing escape. Most bedrooms offer stunning panoramic views of Loch Feochan.

Sonas Collection, founded by Anne Gracie-Gunn and her late husband Ken, is known for its exceptional hospitality and commitment to showcasing the beauty of Scotland’s waters, language, and culture. The Knipoch House Hotel is the latest success in their efforts, with extensive renovations to the bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, bar, and lounge over the past nine months.

Retaining its historic charm with original fireplaces, stone walls, and wood panelling, the hotel now boasts modern comforts such as super-king-sized beds and opulent fittings. Further enhancing the guest experience, plans are underway for an outdoor terrace barbecue and dining area to embrace the stunning setting in spring and summer.

The hotel also offers high-end, modern Scottish dining in its restaurants, led by chef Andrew Engledow, who brings his expertise from the group’s Duisdale House Hotel. Anne Gracie-Gunn expressed her excitement about the relaunch, highlighting the hotel’s fit within the Sonas Collection and its contribution to expanding their offerings.

Group General Manager Andreas Maszczyk shared his enthusiasm for the expansion, noting the hotel’s rising star award and the team’s dedication to revitalizing this iconic country house hotel. The Knipoch House Hotel promises a blend of historic charm and modern luxury, making it an ideal destination for leisure and business travellers alike.
