Highgate, alongside Lazari Investments, has recently announced the opening of the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa, positioned as a groundbreaking addition to the hospitality sector in the heart of Honolulu. This new venture, which has received planning approval, is anticipated to start later this year and is part of a long-term lease agreement spanning at least 25 years. The hotel’s development at an underutilized car park beneath The Brunswick Centre signals a significant shift in Oahu’s hospitality landscape, combining accessibility with luxury to meet the evolving needs of modern travelers through an urban residential experience and a wide array of immersive island activities.

Matthew Grauso, the general manager at Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa, shared insights on the objective to introduce the Renaissance brand to Oahu, aiming to establish a contemporary and inspirational sanctuary within the bustling Ala Moana district. Grauso highlighted the hotel’s focus on wellness, art, culture, and culinary excellence, aiming to make every guest’s stay a deep dive into Hawaii’s cultural richness.

Strategically located near the Ala Moana Center and the island’s cosmopolitan coastline, the hotel stands out with its 187 well-appointed rooms and suites, alongside 112 residences, offering breathtaking views. Unique services like the on-property Navigator and personalized wellness rituals at Uhiwai Spa, including Oahu’s first traditional Japanese ofuro, underscore the hotel’s commitment to a tailored guest experience.

Jennifer Connell, Vice President and Global Brand Lead at Renaissance Hotels, expressed excitement over introducing the brand to Oahu, highlighting the hotel’s alignment with the vibrant and growing sectors of retail, dining, and entertainment in the city. This establishment is poised to support the local economy by boosting employment, stimulating footfall, and encouraging additional spending in the area.

The hotel’s design and amenities, including state-of-the-art lighting technology to support circadian rhythms and a plethora of dining and wellness options, set a new standard for luxury and personalized service. The introduction of Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa is expected to have a profound impact on tourism in Oahu, enhancing the island’s appeal as a prime destination for discerning travelers seeking a blend of adventure and relaxation. By fostering connections with the local culture and businesses, the hotel aims to contribute to the continued growth of Honolulu as a tourist hub, ultimately benefiting the wider tourism industry in Hawaii.
