The much-awaited bird’s eye view of Delhi for the tourist from the viewing gallery of Signature Bridge, located at a height of 165 metre twice the height, is likely to be open for the public by the end of September this year. The Government is also aiming to develop the bridge as an international tourist destination by improving biodiversity parks, amphitheatres, markets, river fronts, and other such developments on both banks of the Yamuna.
The first phase of the signature bridge project will be completed with the opening of this viewing gallery.
The eight-lane signature bridge is India’s first asymmetrical cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge. The pylon of the bridge is the tallest structure in the national Capital after Qutub Minar. The bridge constructed on the Yamuna connecting Wazirabad to East Delhi was open to the public in November 2018. The bridge was constructed by the Delhi Travel and Tourism Development Corporation (DTTDC).
The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev has recently visited and inspected the bridge.
During his visit to the bridge recently, the CM said that the Signature Bridge will be developed as the pride and lifeline of the city’s tourism sector and directed the officials to make sure that commuters using the bridge face no problem in both Phase I and II of the project. He directed the Tourism department to beautify the access points to the Viewing Gallery, providing adequate facilities for visitors like toilets, parking lots among others.
