To speed up travel recovery impetus in India, South African Tourism is aiming to capitalize on strong consumer demand in India with their biggest travel trade initiative, which is their annual Roadshow. The SA tourism board showcased long-term investment and interest in the Indian market, planning a strategic roadmap for reaping 64% YoY increase in Indian visitors this year.

Traveling to the Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad this year, the 36-member South African trade delegation restatedthe stress that the SA tourism board is giving for expanding the destination and its product offering!

India has its prominent place among the top-3 main markets for South African Tourism. Before the pandemic, India was the 8th largest international source market for South Africa. India is expected to uphold its position in the top-10 this year too. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune are the top Indian source markets for South Africa.

To quote NeliswaNkani, Hub Head, MEISEA, South African Tourism,“We have spent the last two years hoping for and preparing for this exact moment – the return of travel! As South African businesses land on Indian shores, we are excited to be introducing our partners and consumers to a host of value-driven and thoughtfully crafted adventures.

Our evolved brand strategy will help us drive South Africa’s value proposition across stakeholders while creating customized engagement models to suit the unique requirements from each of our target regions within India. We are already seeing an uptick in forward travel bookings and hope to further build aspiration and intent to travel.”

The SA tourism board said that improving connectivity and ease of travel would be their primary focus this year. South Africa is also processing tourist visas on priority.
