After seven years of anticipation, Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten has officially debuted its new arrival terminal, transforming the entry experience for travelers to the island.

This marks a significant step in the airport’s recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Irma in 2017, which left its facilities severely damaged.

The newly opened terminal is a dramatic upgrade from the temporary spaces that have served passengers since the hurricane.

Now featuring sleek, modern designs, the terminal offers an array of enhanced facilities, including an advanced baggage handling system, streamlined immigration and customs processes, digital kiosks, and improved passenger amenities.

The upgrades also integrate St. Maarten’s new electronic arrival forms, making the entry process faster and more efficient.

A Boost for St. Maarten’s Gateway

The unveiling of the new arrival terminal follows the successful launch of the airport’s reimagined departure terminal, which has already earned praise for its upgraded food and beverage offerings, duty-free shopping, and overall design.

“I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished,” said Michiel Parent, Commercial Director at Princess Juliana International Airport.

“This new terminal represents a major milestone in enhancing the passenger experience and reinforcing our position as a critical hub for the Caribbean.”

A Key Caribbean Air Hub

Princess Juliana International Airport is more than just a gateway to St. Maarten—it serves as a vital transit hub for the Northern and Eastern Caribbean.

The airport facilitates connections to nearby islands such as Saba, Statia, St. Barth, and Anguilla, making it a critical link in the region’s air travel network.

St. Maarten itself remains a popular destination for travelers, offering a unique blend of Dutch and French influences.

The French side of the island, in particular, has seen significant tourism growth, with a thriving culinary scene and a rise in boutique hotel developments, such as Le Martin and The Forest.

On the Dutch side, the recent opening of the JW Marriott Beach Resort on Dawn Beach adds another luxurious option for visitors, with rooms starting at $449 per night.

Despite these new developments, the Grand Case Beach Club remains a perennial favorite for its intimate charm and stunning beachfront location.

The new arrival terminal is expected to further elevate the island’s appeal as both a destination and a regional hub.
