Starting this fall, Israel will feature some new running events and tours. Participants will visit many of the unique sites that Israel has to offer. Four races are offered by Marathon Israel covering the regions of the Western Negev, the central vineyards, the Upper Galilee and the nature reserves of Eilat.
The events are designed to go beyond traditional races by combining endurance challenges with cultural experiences, music, nature exploration and support for regional tourism. Each race will highlight a different destination while encouraging visitors to discover local landscapes, communities and businesses.
The series will begin in October with the first-ever Race of Hope in the Western Negev Fields, followed by Israel’s Beaujolais Race among vineyards in the Gezer Regional Council. The programme will continue with the Crane Race at Hula Lake in the Upper Galilee before concluding with the Eilat International Desert Marathon in November.
The Race of Hope will officially launch the programme on October 16 in the Western Negev Fields. The newly introduced event will combine running with experiences focused on remembrance, renewal and community recovery.

Participants will follow routes featuring specially designed stations that highlight themes of commemoration and revival. The race aims to showcase the resilience of the region while bringing visitors closer to its landscapes and communities.
The event offers multiple distance options suitable for different levels of runners. Families and casual participants can take part in a 3-kilometre route, while more experienced runners can challenge themselves on longer courses reaching up to 22 kilometres.
By attracting visitors to the Western Negev, the race is expected to provide a boost to local tourism businesses and encourage travellers to explore an area known for its open landscapes, agricultural communities and unique regional character.
One week after the opening event, Israel’s Beaujolais Race will take place on October 23 in the vineyards of the Gezer Regional Council. Inspired by the famous French harvest celebrations, the event will combine running with wine, music and festive activities.
The race will offer participants a relaxed and social experience, with runners moving through vineyard landscapes while enjoying themed activities, costumes and wine tastings. The event is designed for adults aged 18 and above and features three race distances of 5, 8 and 12 kilometres.
Beyond the sporting element, the event will highlight Israel’s wine-growing traditions and rural tourism opportunities. Visitors will have the chance to experience the connection between agriculture, local products and destination experiences while exploring the scenic vineyard areas of central Israel.
The running series will continue north on October 30 with the Crane Race at Hula Lake in the Upper Galilee. Organised in partnership with KKL-JNF, the event will take place inside one of Israel’s most important natural landscapes.
The race route passes through the Hula Valley, offering views of the Golan Heights and the Naftali Mountains. The region is internationally recognised as a major stopover for migrating cranes, with tens of thousands of birds visiting the area each year.
The flat course is suitable for runners seeking a scenic challenge surrounded by nature. Participants can choose between a half marathon of 21.1 kilometres, a 10-kilometre route or a shorter 4-kilometre course.
The event also aims to support northern communities by encouraging tourism activity in the region and promoting the natural attractions, businesses and hospitality offerings of the Upper Galilee.
The autumn race calendar will conclude on November 27 with the Eilat International Desert Marathon, held in partnership with the Eilat Municipality. Recognised by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the event is the only marathon in Israel conducted entirely in a desert environment.
The route begins along the Eilat promenade before continuing towards the Southern Arava region. Runners will experience a dramatic combination of desert valleys, mountain landscapes and views connecting the Red Sea with the surrounding wilderness.
The marathon has four race categories: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and full marathon (42.2 km). It attracts thousands of participants and visitors from Israel and abroad, who look for sport and adventure tourism together.
Marathon Israel autumn race series has a regional and community tourism approach, targeting runners to enjoy running through different spots along with the beautiful landscapes of Israel.
