Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt Opens As IHCL Brings India’s Iconic Luxury Hospitality Brand To Continental Europe For The First Time
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, marking a significant milestone as the Taj brand makes its debut in continental Europe.
Located in Frankfurt’s prominent trade fair district, the iconic hotel strengthens IHCL’s international footprint while bringing the brand’s signature hospitality experience to one of Europe’s leading business and cultural destinations.
The opening ceremony was led by General Manager Albert Mayr, alongside Spiridon Sarantopoulos, Senior Vice President – Operations Europe & USA, and Gaurav Pokhariyal, Chief Operating Officer – Full-Service Business at IHCL. The occasion welcomed representatives from Frankfurt’s business, social, political and cultural communities, highlighting the importance of the hotel’s arrival in the city.
With the launch of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, IHCL expands its European portfolio and introduces Taj’s renowned service philosophy, heritage and luxury hospitality offerings to travellers across continental Europe.

“We are celebrating the continuation of a story that is deeply connected to this city,” said Albert Mayr in his welcome address. “With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are reopening a property that has long been an icon of the hospitality landscape while reimagining it for the future. Spiridon Sarantopoulos of IHCL, which operates the hotel, added: “The combination of this hotel’s rich heritage and the international stature of the Taj brand provides a strong foundation for a successful future. We aim to offer our guests an authentic Taj experience while preserving the distinct character of the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof.”

The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including State Secretary Karin Müller, former international dressage champion Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff, Messe Frankfurt CEO Detlef Braun, and renowned advertising personalities and television presenters Nina and Julia Meise.
“We knew the Hessischer Hof from earlier years, and I am delighted by how successfully Taj has honored and evolved the grandeur of this historic property,” said Nina Meise.
“That includes the reopening of Jimmy’s Bar. We are confident that the hotel will once again become one of Frankfurt’s most sought-after addresses,” added Julia Meise.
Guests at the celebration were treated to an exquisite culinary showcase featuring signature creations from Bombay Brasserie, the hotel’s renowned Indian restaurant, complemented by a premium oyster bar and an exclusive caviar tasting experience. The restaurant’s growing reputation was further strengthened after Bombay Brasserie at Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt earned the prestigious No. 1 position in the Indian Cuisine category of “Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027.” The dining destination was also recognised among the “Newcomers of the Year” in the Asian Fine Dining category, while Jimmy’s Bar secured recognition in the Classic Bars category, highlighting the hotel’s diverse and exceptional food and beverage offerings.
