Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) is the top tourism trade organization in Goa founded 1977. It is the only association of its kind in India covering all segments of tourism from hotels, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, event managers, and even government bodies like GTDC, Goa tourism and other verticals.
The body’s president Nilesh N Shah is also the founder and partner of Purushottam Bhagwan and Associates, a leading Travel and Tour company in Goa. He spoke about the expectations they have for the upcoming season.
Shah said that TTAG has understood that COVID-19 will stay for a while and hence, businesses need to revolve around it. All segments of tourism should follow all government Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) looking into safety aspects of the customers, team members and locals around. Best of training to team members needs to be provided to deal with the current challenges.
It is now a matter of survival for the tourism industry in this financial year, and there will be very slow growth in the beginning in the current month which will gradually increase with confidence growing back in the traveler.
Also, if all goes well, a vaccine will be announced in the month of November that is bound to spread positivity among travelers which will in-turn attract more tourists to Goa, December onwards.
As of now, domestic tourists will be the key for survival with a lot of scope, as people will feel safer traveling within the country.
