Seychelles is entering the 2026 summer travel season with stronger international air connectivity after three major airlines—Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Aeroflot—advanced or expanded their flight operations to the Indian Ocean destination. The move provides additional seat capacity during a period that has traditionally seen lower airline activity while making the archipelago easier to reach for travellers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Russia.

According to Tourism Seychelles, the expanded schedules demonstrate growing confidence among international airline partners and reinforce the country’s position as one of the region’s leading luxury island destinations. The additional services are expected to improve travel flexibility while supporting hotels, resorts, tour operators, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses across the islands.

Qatar Airways Expands Seychelles Operations

Qatar Airways became the first of the three airlines to strengthen its Seychelles schedule this summer. Beginning on 16 June 2026, the carrier increased its services to four weekly flights, operating every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The expanded schedule strengthens Seychelles’ connection through Doha, allowing travellers to access the islands from more than 150 destinations served by Qatar Airways. For international visitors, this means greater scheduling flexibility and shorter connection times, making Seychelles more competitive against other tropical destinations.

Turkish Airlines Returns to Summer Operations

Turkish Airlines has also resumed scheduled summer services to Seychelles, marking its first summer programme to the destination in three years.

Initially, the airline is operating two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays. From the week beginning 6 July 2026, it will introduce a third weekly Friday service, bringing the total to three flights per week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

The renewed Istanbul connection significantly improves accessibility from Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East through one of the world’s largest international aviation hubs. Tourism officials believe the additional flights will help attract visitors throughout the year rather than concentrating demand during the traditional winter season.

Aeroflot Restores Direct Access from Russia

The Russian market is also receiving a significant boost as Aeroflot prepares to resume direct flights between Moscow and Seychelles.

Starting 8 July 2026, the airline will operate two weekly services every Wednesday and Saturday. The restored route increases available seats from one of Seychelles’ established visitor markets while giving Russian travellers direct access to the islands without relying on connecting flights.

The return of Aeroflot is expected to strengthen tourism flows from Russia, particularly among travellers seeking luxury beach holidays during the European summer months.

Air Connectivity Remains Critical to Tourism Growth

Tourism continues to be one of Seychelles’ most important economic sectors, making international air access essential for maintaining visitor arrivals and supporting local employment.

Improved connectivity enables airlines to offer greater travel choice while helping hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, excursion operators, transport providers, and retailers benefit from increased visitor spending. It also reduces dependence on a limited number of source markets by expanding access across multiple regions.

As global competition among island destinations intensifies, convenient flight options have become one of the strongest factors influencing travellers’ holiday decisions. The latest airline expansions strengthen Seychelles’ ability to compete with other premium destinations across the Indian Ocean and beyond.

Tourism Seychelles Welcomes Airline Confidence

Tourism Seychelles has welcomed the earlier return and expanded operations by its airline partners, describing the decision as a strong vote of confidence in the destination.

The tourism authority noted that improved air connectivity not only increases travel options but also strengthens access from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Russia. Officials also confirmed that discussions with additional aviation partners are continuing, creating the possibility of further improvements to international connectivity in the future.

What This Means for International Travellers

For travellers planning a Seychelles holiday, the expanded schedules provide greater flexibility when selecting travel dates and airline options. Additional flights also increase seat availability during the summer season, making it easier for visitors to secure preferred itineraries.

Luxury holidaymakers, honeymooners, diving enthusiasts, nature lovers, and premium leisure travellers all stand to benefit from improved accessibility. With more direct and connecting services available, Seychelles strengthens its appeal as one of the Indian Ocean’s most accessible luxury island destinations.

The coordinated expansion by Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Aeroflot highlights the growing confidence of global airlines in Seychelles’ tourism market. By improving international connectivity ahead of the busy travel period, the country is positioning itself for sustained tourism growth while reinforcing its reputation as a world-class destination for year-round island holidays.
