Discover how Singapore’s InterContinental ensures rain doesn’t spoil your stay with their unique “Rain Resist Bliss” package. A luxury travel innovation!

In Singapore, known for its frequent rainfall with an average of 171 days of rain annually, a particular hotel is pioneering an innovative approach to ensure that inclement weather doesn’t dampen the vacation experience of its guests.

The InterContinental Singapore introduces a unique offering named the “Rain Resist Bliss” package, promising to compensate guests with a one-night stay reimbursement if their outdoor plans are disrupted by rain.

Andreas Kraemer, the General Manager of the hotel, shared with CNN the origins of this idea. It emerged from a conversation about the future of luxury travel, where a friend humorously suggested that controlling the weather could represent the pinnacle of travel luxury. This conversation sparked the development of a package designed to offer a form of rain insurance.

However, there are specific conditions for this offer. The InterContinental specifies that the compensation applies only when the rain lasts for more than 120 minutes during any four-hour period of daylight. Furthermore, this package is exclusive to suite guests, with prices starting from 850 SGD (approximately $633) for a junior suite, and going up to 4,500 SGD (around $3,349) for the presidential suite.

The reimbursement is provided in the form of a voucher to be used at the InterContinental Singapore within a week, covering the cost equivalent to one night in the suite category booked.

Kraemer also shared his personal recommendations for rainy days in Singapore, including exploring the Asian Civilizations Museum, touring the Tiger Brewery, and browsing the Kinokuniya bookstore.

This innovative package positions the InterContinental Singapore distinctively in the competitive hotel market.

Innovations aimed at enhancing guest experiences are becoming a trend among luxury hotels globally. For instance, a hotel in Bali has introduced a ban on smartphones and other electronics by the pool to promote a more tranquil environment, while other establishments, like the Park Hyatt New York, offer rooms tailored for a superior night’s sleep, equipped with amenities such as white noise machines, weighted blankets, and special teas designed to aid sleep.
