The new international cruise chapter from Shenzhen of China Adora Magic City has its first international cruise with departure on August 13 from the Shekou Cruise Homeport in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as it sails towards Vietnam on a five-day cruise. China continues to develop international cruise connections across Asia, with new regional itineraries from its cruise lines, such as Adora Magic City’s cruise to Vietnam and South Korea. This new chapter strengthens Shenzhen’s cruise gateway.

The voyage headed towards Vietnam, offering passengers a new opportunity to explore Southeast Asia by sea while highlighting Shenzhen’s rising importance as a departure point for international cruise journeys. The launch reflects the increasing demand for convenient regional cruise experiences and the continued development of cruise infrastructure across the Greater Bay Area.

The latest operation is part of Adora Cruises’ broader expansion plans in southern China. The company is strengthening its presence in the region by increasing ship deployments, introducing new routes and preparing for the arrival of additional vessels. This expansion is designed to support the growing interest in cruise holidays among Chinese travellers while improving international connectivity through maritime tourism.

A major addition to the fleet is the upcoming Adora Flora City, which is scheduled for delivery on November 6. The new cruise ship will begin its maiden voyage from Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport on November 22, further expanding the cruise options available to passengers in southern China.

The arrival of more cruise capacity is expected to enhance the Greater Bay Area’s position as one of Asia’s emerging cruise hubs. With Shenzhen and Guangzhou offering modern port facilities and strong transport connections, the region is becoming increasingly attractive for both domestic travellers and international visitors looking for cruise experiences across Asia.

The departure of Adora Magic City from Shenzhen was celebrated with a traditional water salute ceremony, a maritime tradition often used to welcome or mark the launch of significant voyages. The event recognised the importance of the ship’s first international sailing from the city and highlighted the growing relationship between cruise operators and regional ports.

During the ceremony, a commemorative exchange took place between representatives of the cruise operation and the Shenzhen cruise terminal, marking the beginning of a new chapter for international cruise departures from the port.

The Shenzhen cruise season will continue until September 16, with Adora Magic City operating a series of international voyages. The ship will offer regular five- and six-day itineraries travelling to destinations in Vietnam and South Korea, giving passengers more choices for short international cruise holidays.

One of the most notable journeys during the season is the nine-day “Maritime Silk Road Discovery” voyage scheduled to depart on August 27. The extended cruise will follow a route inspired by historic maritime connections, visiting Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Muara in Brunei and Nha Trang in Vietnam.

The itinerary combines cultural exploration, coastal experiences and regional discovery, allowing travellers to experience multiple Southeast Asian destinations during one journey. Such longer voyages are becoming increasingly popular as cruise passengers look for deeper destination experiences rather than short port visits.

The expansion of Adora Magic City’s operations also reflects the broader recovery and transformation of the Asian cruise industry. Cruise companies across the region are investing in new ships, improved port facilities and diverse itineraries to attract more travellers seeking international leisure experiences.

As China continues to develop its cruise tourism market, the Greater Bay Area is expected to play a key role in connecting passengers with destinations throughout Asia. The introduction of new ships, expanded routes and international sailings signals growing confidence in the future of cruise travel.

With Adora Magic City strengthening its Shenzhen operations and Adora Flora City preparing to join the fleet, southern China is moving closer to becoming a major centre for cruise tourism in Asia. These developments are creating new travel opportunities while supporting tourism growth, regional cooperation and stronger connections between China and neighbouring countries.
