Vietjet’s announcement to launch new routes to three destinations marks a significant step in expanding both domestic and international connectivity, particularly between Vietnam, China, and Taiwan. This strategic expansion, including a direct domestic service between Hanoi and Dien Bien, promises to transform the tourism landscape in Vietnam’s northwest region.

Commencing on March 1, 2024, the Hanoi-Dien Bien route will operate thrice weekly, complementing the existing Vietjet service from Ho Chi Minh City. This additional connectivity within Vietnam opens new doors for travellers, offering more flexible and convenient travel options to explore the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Northwest.

The flights, expected to be operated using the Airbus A320, will depart from Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport and arrive in Dien Bien. This route enhancement is not just a travel convenience but a potential catalyst for regional tourism growth, as it eases access to Vietnam’s scenic landscapes and historical sites.

Internationally, Vietjet’s new route from the picturesque coastal city of Phu Quoc to Taiwan adds a significant string to the bow of Vietnam’s tourism sector. Operating daily, this nonstop service connects two vibrant destinations, offering travellers an opportunity to experience the unique blend of Vietnamese and Taiwanese cultures. With this being Vietjet’s eighth route between the two nations, it underscores the airline’s commitment to fostering cultural and tourism exchanges.

The second international addition, linking Ho Chi Minh City with Chengdu, China, fortifies Vietjet’s growing network in the region. Following closely on the heels of the Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai route, this daily service aims to enhance travel options and convenience for tourists and business travellers alike, just in time for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

These new routes by Vietjet are poised to have a ripple effect on the tourism industry in Vietnam and beyond. By increasing accessibility to key destinations, they are expected to attract more visitors, stimulate local economies, and promote cultural exchange. The enhanced connectivity will not only benefit seasoned travellers but also open up new avenues for first-time visitors, eager to explore the diverse attractions of Vietnam and its neighboring countries.

As Vietjet expands its footprint, the airline is setting the stage for a more interconnected travel experience. This move is likely to boost tourism, enhance customer experiences, and contribute significantly to the growth of the regional travel industry. With easier access to Vietnam’s stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cities, the new routes are a win-win for both the airline and the tourism sector.
