CSMIA wins ‘Innovation Champion’ at Wings India 2024 for pioneering ‘Taxiway Z’, enhancing aviation efficiency and sustainability.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has once again demonstrated its exceptional performance by receiving the prestigious ‘Innovation Champion’ award at the Wings India Awards 2024. This accolade celebrates CSMIA’s innovative leadership and the pioneering development of ‘Taxiway Z’ – a groundbreaking initiative in airport operation. The award ceremony took place on January 18, 2024, at Wings India 2024, Asia’s premier civil aviation event. This event, held in Hyderabad, is jointly organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
At the core of CSMIA’s operational strategy is its commitment to innovation, exemplified by the implementation of ‘Taxiway Z.’ This unique apron design allows for interchangeable use of taxiway and parking stands, significantly reducing waiting times for arriving flights, enhancing On Time Performance (OTP), and decreasing carbon emissions through shorter taxi times. The ingenious Taxiway Z concept is a testament to the dedicated and skilled team at CSMIA, who played a pivotal role in bringing this innovative project to fruition.
