Tourist accommodation overnight stays in Cyprus have shown the largest drop in overnight stays in European Union countries, according to the recently released figures from Eurostat. The overnight stays in tourist accommodation in Cyprus dropped by 7.7% in comparison to the previous year. This is in sharp contrast with the rest of the European Union, which showed an increase in overnight stays of 1.7%. It should be noted that Cyprus is among those destinations in the European Union highly dependent on international tourism. The foreign tourists’ share in the total number of tourists was 92.6%.
