Wizz Air Hits 90 Million Passenger Mark in the UK, Marks Milestone with Exciting Initiatives

Europe’s leading environmentally sustainable airline, Wizz Air, proudly announces a significant achievement: 90 million passengers have chosen to fly with the airline from its UK airports.

The lucky 90 millionth passenger received a warm welcome aboard a flight from London Luton Airport to Amman, Jordan, along with a generous £200 voucher.

In celebration of this remarkable milestone, Wizz Air organized a delightful ‘spin and win’ event for passengers at the airport, with 90 fortunate winners receiving Wizz Air vouchers worth £90 each.

Adding to the excitement, Wizz Air recently unveiled its 200th aircraft, a new A321neo allocated to the UK, stationed at London Luton Airport. This addition aims to accommodate the growing number of passengers, with 12.2 million travelers from the UK alone contributing to record-breaking network numbers last year.

With a fleet size of 16 aircraft operating across 105 routes, Wizz Air is a major player in the UK aviation scene. The airline operates daily flights from multiple UK airports, including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Luton, and London Gatwick, employing over 800 people in the country.

London Luton Airport serves as Wizz Air’s largest UK base, boasting 11 aircraft and facilitating 50 return flights daily to 60 destinations across 28 countries. Meanwhile, at London Gatwick, Wizz Air operates 19 flights to 15 countries, featuring popular destinations like Athens, Istanbul, Nice, and Rome. Additionally, on March 7th, lucky winners will embark on an exciting journey to a mystery destination as part of Wizz Air’s #LetsGetLost campaign.

With eyes set on the future, Wizz Air plans for continued expansion, with 300 A321neo aircraft on order to enhance its offerings across the network, promising even more exciting opportunities for travelers.

UK Wizz Air Managing Director, Marion Geoffroy said: “We are thrilled to celebrate 90 million passengers who have travelled with us to and from the UK. Thank you to all our staff for their continued hard work which has helped us reach this milestone. A big thanks also to every passenger who has put their trust in us and chosen Wizz Air as their airline of choice. We’re excited to welcome more people on board as they look to explore Europe and beyond.”

Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport, said: “This is another incredible milestone for Wizz Air. More than 70 million of its UK passengers have travelled through London Luton Airport, underlining the strength and success of our relationship which began with its first UK flight almost 20 years ago. Since then, our collaborative partnership with Wizz has seen a sustained growth in passenger numbers and an ever-greater choice of destinations on our departure boards. With another exciting year ahead of us, our priority, as ever, is to continue to deliver a simple and friendly passenger experience as we work with Wizz towards its next big passenger number milestone.”
