Pololikashvili, the UNWTO Secretary-General, today has requested the name of Russia to be removed as a member of the World Tourism Organization.

On Thursday last week, the World Tourism Network (WTN) has asked for a United Voice and Smart Guidance for World Peace.

On February 16th, the World Tourism Network reminded industry leaders and Global Tourism Resilience day of its liability as a Guardian of World Peace on Global Resilience Day?

UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili in Geneva, heard this in Switzerland last week, where UNWTO had carried on a week of meetings securing support for its call to ease travel and enhancing strategic partnerships to define the future of tourism. Also, UNWTO highlighted that tact and skill is the only option to man-made problems and amplified tourism’s voice for peace and international solidarity.

UNWTO criticized unilateral and unfounded acts of aggression and stands by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his call for diplomacy to win out. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili says: “At a time where diplomacy has been abandoned, the values of tourism, a pillar of peace and solidarity, are more vital than ever.”

To quote Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network highly praised UNWTO for its decision and said: “UNWTO recognized its special responsibility as tourism is seen as the Guardian for World Peace. We applaud the move by the Secretary-General to agree with the World Tourism Network and the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism, along with the World Association for Hospitality and Tourism Education Training, in our call for tourism leaders to speak with one voice on this issue.”
