New statistics from the WTTC and the Saudi-based Sustainable Tourism Global Center tells the climate imprint of the travel and tourism segment in Portugal.
In one of the major research assignments of its kind ever carried out, WTTC, for the first time ever, can precisely report and find the influence that the tourism segment has on the environment.
As per data, travel and tourism in Portugal has continued to develop, at the same time as decreasing it’s the amount of its emissions.
In 2019, travel and tourism accounted for 17.8% of total greenhouse gas releases all through Portugal.

Between 2010 and 2019, Portugal’s travel and tourism’s economic progress decoupled from its greenhouse gas releases.During this time, the segment’sinputfor thenationwide economy developed on average approximately 5% yearly, whereas greenhouse gas dischargesaugmented by 4.1% for every year.
