Waldorf Astoria Residences Costa Rica Punta Cacique has announced the successful completion and handover of its first three Estate Homes, offering an exclusive first glimpse into the luxury cliffside residences. Located within Punta Cacique, a 600-acre master-planned development on Guanacaste’s Cacique Peninsula near the renowned Nicoya Peninsula, the residences are positioned in one of the world’s recognised Blue Zones, an area celebrated for its lifestyle, wellness, and exceptional longevity among local communities.

These newly completed Estate Homes represent the first residential offerings under the Waldorf Astoria Residences brand at Punta Cacique, following the successful launch of the community’s condominium collection, which has already reached full sales. The milestone marks a significant step forward as Punta Cacique continues its transformation into a premier luxury residential destination.

Designed by a leading group of international architects, urban planners, and landscape specialists, including GarnierArquitectos, RoblesArq, and EDSA, the Estate Homes blend contemporary design with the surrounding natural environment. Positioned dramatically above the pristine coastline of Playa Penca, the residences provide uninterrupted panoramic views of the Gulf of Papagayo and the Pacific Ocean.

The exclusive collection features expansive homes measuring more than 11,000 square feet, combining privacy, sophisticated architecture, and resort-style living. Prices begin in the mid-$7 million range and reach up to $11.75 million. More than half of the limited Estate Home collection has already been sold, with sales now continuing for the remaining 10 residences.

“When I first saw this peninsula, I knew it was one of the most extraordinary places I’d ever visited,” said Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and Chairman and CEO of Revolution Places, the developer of Punta Cacique. “We were determined to take the time to select the right partners with a deep respect for Costa Rica’s natural beauty. As our lives become increasingly digital, I believe the places where people gather, reconnect, and create lasting memories become even more meaningful. From the beginning, our goal wasn’t simply to build a resort or sell homes; it was to create a community. Seeing the first owners move in is an exciting milestone and the beginning of the next chapter for Punta Cacique.”

Carved into one of Costa Rica’s most breathtaking and carefully protected coastal landscapes, the Cacique Peninsula is located in Guanacaste, a region renowned for its dramatic coastline, protected national parks, tropical forests, and volcanic scenery. Positioned near the popular beach destinations of Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco, the peninsula offers a rare combination of natural beauty, privacy, and easy access to local attractions. Stretching into the Gulf of Papagayo, the area is surrounded by offshore islands, peaceful bays, and sheltered coves where crystal-clear waters create a calm and inviting coastal environment. At the edge of the community, Playa Penca remains a hidden coastal treasure, accessible through a scenic trail that winds down the bluff. The destination reflects Costa Rica’s famous focus on wellbeing, longevity, and a slower, more meaningful lifestyle, principles that influenced the vision and design of the entire community.

The exclusive Estate Homes feature fully furnished four- and five-bedroom residences ranging from approximately 4,444 to 5,736 interior square feet, while total living spaces expand up to 11,027 square feet through generous terraces, outdoor entertainment areas, oceanfront pools, and open-plan designs. Created to maximise views and natural surroundings, these multi-level residences follow the natural shape of the coastal bluff, allowing sweeping ocean vistas from almost every room. Some of the premium homes include two private ocean-facing pools, creating an elevated indoor-outdoor living experience.

Designed with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, each residence combines locally inspired materials, warm earth-tone finishes, native vegetation, and carefully planned lighting to blend seamlessly with the coastal environment. Every Estate Home includes a private elevator, outdoor kitchens, showers, and sophisticated entertainment spaces equipped with Italian BBQs and high-quality stainless-steel fixtures.

The gourmet kitchens are crafted by Cucine Lube and feature luxury details such as leather-finished Taj Mahal quartzite countertops, spacious islands, and premium appliances designed for modern culinary experiences. The primary suites open onto private terraces and include spa-inspired bathrooms fitted with Apaiser soaking tubs, Vermont beige marble surfaces, and Kohler Vibrant Titanium fixtures.

Throughout the residences, handcrafted elements highlight the connection between luxury design and natural surroundings. Interiors showcase Turkish Rimini beige marble flooring, chukum plaster walls, teak ceilings, eucalyptus veneer cabinetry, custom Naturtex wall panels, Arabescato Orobico marble accents, and refined Nettle wall coverings. Every detail has been carefully selected to create homes that combine contemporary elegance, natural harmony, and the unique coastal character of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste region.

“Following the success of Peninsula Papagayo over the last two decades, Punta Cacique is well-positioned as the next destination for buyers seeking an early opportunity to own a luxury branded residence in Costa Rica,” said Andy Ardila, co-founder of Ardilla Costello Team (ACT) at Compass, the exclusive sales and marketing partner for Waldorf Astoria Residences Costa Rica Punta Cacique. “The final release of Estate Homes represents an incredible opportunity to own in the earliest stages of this visionary Guanacaste development, where life slows down, connection to nature is abundant, and wellbeing is truly prioritized.”

The launch of Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique in April 2025 introduced the luxury hospitality brand’s first-ever property in Costa Rica. The resort has quickly gained international recognition, securing a place among the 25 Best Resorts in Central America in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards and being recognised as the leading resort in Guanacaste. Estate Home owners enjoy an elevated ownership experience with round-the-clock personalised concierge support and exclusive access to the resort’s extensive collection of luxury facilities.

Residents have direct access to the stunning Playa Penca, along with six world-class dining experiences, including the iconic Peacock Alley Bar. The property features a 10,000-square-foot event and meeting area, a 17,000-square-foot spa and wellness retreat offering locally inspired treatments based on ancient Chorotega traditions, and unique treehouse-style treatment spaces. Additional amenities include a modern fitness centre, movement studio, open-air yoga pavilion, multi-level lap and thermal pools, private beach club, children’s club and dedicated teen facilities.

Homeowners at Waldorf Astoria Residences Costa Rica Punta Cacique also receive Hilton Honors® Diamond status throughout their ownership period. They can further benefit from a professionally managed rental programme operated by Hilton, allowing owners to generate value from their residences while maintaining access to the resort lifestyle.

The development represents the result of a nearly two-decade vision led by Steve Case, who acquired the Cacique Peninsula in 2006 and carefully built partnerships to transform the destination into a sustainable luxury community. Designed around low-density development and environmental responsibility, Punta Cacique aims to create a new model for future-focused travel and residential living.

The multi-phase project will continue expanding with a collection of resorts, private residences and wellness-focused experiences. Future additions are planned to include a working farm, equestrian centre and a locally inspired commercial village, further strengthening the destination’s connection with Costa Rica’s nature, culture and lifestyle.

Situated only around 30 minutes from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR), which welcomes more than two million travellers annually, Punta Cacique combines easy accessibility with a secluded coastal atmosphere. The destination offers convenient connections from major North American cities while preserving the tranquillity of one of Costa Rica’s most spectacular coastal landscapes.

The Ardila Costello Team (ACT) at Compass, led by Andy Ardila and David Costello, serves as the exclusive sales and marketing representative for Waldorf Astoria Residences Costa Rica Punta Cacique, managing the global promotion and sales strategy for this luxury residential offering.
