Air Canada Foundation Unleashes Monumental Aviation Giving Triumph, Raising Record $1.5 Million, Powering Children’s Medical Travel and Surpassing $20 Million in Lifetime Impact
A record-breaking $1.5 million has been raised by the Air Canada Foundation through its 14th Annual Golf Tournament, allowing vital assistance to be expanded for the health and well-being of children and youth across Canada. Hosted at Club de golf Le Mirage in Terrebonne, Québec, the landmark event was attended by 375 guests and supported by more than 100 corporate partners, suppliers and vendors. Through this achievement, the Foundation’s lifetime fundraising impact has been pushed beyond $20 million since its launch in 2012. The newly collected funds will be distributed through the annual grants programme, with children and young people from equity-deserving communities being prioritised. A powerful travel connection has also been reinforced, as donated Aeroplan points and airline resources are used to help sick children reach specialised medical care away from home. Through aviation, philanthropy and passenger participation, essential journeys are being made more accessible for families facing hardship.
Record Fundraising Result Achieved in Québec
A new fundraising record was established when the Air Canada Foundation’s 14th Annual Golf Tournament was hosted at Club de golf Le Mirage in Terrebonne, Québec. The event was held on Tuesday and was attended by 375 guests.
More than 100 sponsors were represented at the tournament. Support was contributed by corporate partners, suppliers and vendors, allowing $1.5 million to be raised. The tournament is regarded as the Air Canada Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event.
Through the gathering, representatives from aviation, tourism and associated industries were brought together around a shared charitable purpose. Although golf was used as the central activity, the day was primarily shaped by the effort to strengthen assistance for children and young people across Canada.

Funds to Be Distributed Through Annual Grants
The money collected through the tournament will be distributed under the Air Canada Foundation’s annual grants programme. Assistance will be directed towards children and youth from equity-deserving communities.

By being channelled through established charitable partnerships, the funds are expected to support practical programmes that address health, food insecurity and wider social challenges. Opportunities for children to develop their abilities and pursue their potential will also be supported.
The record total has been regarded as especially significant because it was achieved through participation from several parts of the airline’s broader business network. Contributions were provided not only by guests but also by organisations that work alongside Air Canada throughout the aviation and travel ecosystem.
Lifetime Fundraising Surpasses $20 Million
A major lifetime milestone has also been reached by the Air Canada Foundation. Since its launch in 2012, more than $20 million has been raised to support children across Canada.

Over 14 years, fundraising has been expanded through corporate partnerships, customer participation, employee engagement and charitable events. The latest golf tournament has now become the strongest single edition of the annual event, with its $1.5 million total adding considerable momentum to the Foundation’s long-term mission.
The achievement has demonstrated how an airline-linked charitable organisation can be used to extend the influence of the travel industry beyond conventional passenger services. Air connectivity, loyalty points and fundraising platforms have all been used to help families facing difficult circumstances.

Volunteers Power the Foundation’s Largest Event
The tournament was organised and hosted by 50 Air Canada employee and retiree volunteers. Their involvement was considered essential to the event’s delivery.
Support was provided across the tournament’s activities, guest arrangements and fundraising initiatives. Long-standing engagement by employees and retirees has continued to form an important part of the Air Canada Foundation’s work throughout the year.
Recognition was extended by Michael Rousseau, President and Chief Executive Officer at Air Canada, to the participants, donors, employees, retirees and partners whose involvement made the milestone possible. Appreciation was also expressed for the sustained generosity shown during the tournament’s 14-year history.
The importance of the achievement was similarly emphasised by Louise-Hélène Sénécal, Chair of the Air Canada Foundation. The milestone was presented as a reflection of the lasting difference being made for children and families.
Young Ambassadors Add a Personal Dimension
A strong human element was added to the tournament through the participation of Sylas and Alessandro. Sylas served as the 2026 Air Canada Foundation Hospital Transportation Program Ambassador, while pediatric hospitals in British Columbia and Quebec were represented by Alessandro.

A popular lemonade stand was operated by the two young participants, and nearly $10,000 was raised. Through their presence, the purpose behind the wider fundraiser was made more visible to guests.
The involvement of young ambassadors allowed the connection between donations and real lives to be understood more clearly. Rather than being viewed only as a corporate fundraising exercise, the event was shaped by the experiences of children and families who can benefit from medical transportation, hospital partnerships and community-based assistance.
Dr. Clown Foundation Engages Tournament Guests
The Dr. Clown Foundation, a long-term partner of the Air Canada Foundation, was also represented at Club de golf Le Mirage. Guests were engaged through interaction and photographs, while information was shared about the effect of therapeutic clown programmes.
Through these programmes, support is provided in hospitals and Indigenous communities. Moments of comfort, humour and emotional relief are created for children who may be experiencing illness, treatment or other difficult conditions.
The participation of the Dr. Clown Foundation demonstrated that assistance can be delivered in several forms. Medical travel and financial support remain crucial, but emotional well-being and positive hospital experiences are also treated as important parts of a child’s care.

Medical Travel Remains a Core Priority
A particularly strong travel angle has been created through the Air Canada Foundation’s Hospital Transportation Program. Under the programme, Aeroplan points are redistributed to participating partners.
The programme’s partners include 15 pediatric hospitals across Canada, Hope Air and the David Foster Foundation. Donated points are used to help sick children reach medical care located away from their homes.
For families living far from specialised hospitals, transport can become a major obstacle. Costs, distance and flight requirements may add pressure during an already difficult period. Through donated Aeroplan points, some of that burden can be reduced and essential journeys can be made more accessible.
Travel is therefore being used as a direct form of assistance. A flight can become more than a journey between two airports when a child is being transported to necessary treatment.
Airline Connectivity Supports a Wider Mission
Air Canada is recognised as Canada’s largest airline and the country’s flag carrier. It is also a founding member of Star Alliance. Scheduled services are provided directly to more than 180 airports across Canada, the United States and international markets on six continents.

A Four-Star ranking has been awarded to the airline by Skytrax. Through Aeroplan, more than 10 million members worldwide are connected with a travel loyalty programme that includes a partner network of more than 50 airlines, alongside hotel, car rental and merchandise partners.
Holiday products are offered through Air Canada Vacations, including vacation packages, Flight and Hotel packages, tours, cruises, car rentals, excursions, activities and experiences. Freight connectivity is also provided to hundreds of destinations across six continents through Air Canada Cargo.
Within that extensive travel network, charitable action has been embedded through passenger donations, Aeroplan points and employee participation. The Foundation’s latest fundraising record has shown how the scale of an international airline can be directed towards meaningful community outcomes.
A New Benchmark for Aviation-Led Giving
The $1.5 million raised in Terrebonne has established a new benchmark for the Air Canada Foundation’s annual tournament. More importantly, the lifetime total of over $20 million has revealed the cumulative power of sustained support.
Through donors, sponsors, volunteers, passengers and industry partners, assistance has been generated over more than a decade. Children have been connected with medical care, meals have been supplied, dreams have been fulfilled and charities have been strengthened.

A compelling link between aviation and social responsibility has consequently been demonstrated. As passengers are carried across Canada and the world, support is also being carried towards families whose journeys may be defined by medical need, financial difficulty or personal adversity.
