The Maldives is about to welcome a new island resort as Atmosphere Core signs its 10th resort, ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru, for a March 2027 opening. The new property will introduce a different take on luxury in Kaafu Atoll, combining contemporary design with Maldivian craftsmanship, nature and flexible experiences. Atmosphere Core is strengthening its position in the Maldives with the signing of ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru An Atmosphere Hotel, a new island resort scheduled to open in March 2027.

The property will operate under the An Atmosphere Hotel sub-brand of Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts and will become the first resort in the company’s new ONE BANYAN series of co-branded island resorts in the Maldives.

The concept is intended to give each participating resort a distinctive identity rather than applying a uniform luxury-resort formula. Amaraa Faru will therefore have its own design, story and atmosphere while remaining connected to the wider Atmosphere portfolio.

A New Resort in Kaafu Atoll

ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru will be located in Kaafu Atoll, approximately a 45-minute speedboat journey from Velana International Airport.

The island setting is characterised by expansive lagoons and varied shades of blue and green, providing the backdrop for a resort built around the ocean and the natural environment.

Atmosphere Core says the property is being designed for travellers who increasingly value personalised experiences and a stronger connection with their destination.

The name itself reflects that positioning. Amaraa is inspired by a Sanskrit word associated with eternity or immortality, while faru means reef in Dhivehi, linking the resort’s identity to the Maldives’ marine environment.

118 Private-Pool Beach and Overwater Villas

The resort will feature 118 beach and overwater villas, offering a range of accommodation sizes.

The standard beach villas will measure 100 square metres, while family beach villas will extend to 164 square metres. The overwater villas will cover 117 square metres.

All villas will include private pools, with indoor and outdoor areas designed to create a seamless relationship with the surrounding tropical landscape.

The design will introduce a new visual direction for Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts. It will draw on traditional palm-leaf craftsmanship, reinterpreting coconut and palm fibres through a contemporary design approach.

Natural materials, locally influenced textures and subtle Art Deco details will be combined with eco-conscious finishes in a palette built around crème and soft green tones.

Dining, Wellness and Family Facilities

Food and beverage options will form a major part of the guest experience.

An all-day dining restaurant will serve as the main culinary hub, alongside a principal pool bar and three speciality restaurants. Planned concepts include Argentinian cuisine and an overwater Japanese restaurant.

Wellness will also have a prominent role. The resort’s spa will be operated under Atmosphere Core’s ELE|NA Ayur brand and will feature overwater treatment rooms, a 40-square-metre saltwater pool, sauna and steam facilities.

Other facilities will include a kids’ club, ocean-view gym and fitness centre, dive and water sports centre, and a promenade-style retail area.

Technology Meets Maldivian Hospitality

Atmosphere Core says technology will be integrated across the guest journey, supporting a service model intended to feel intuitive rather than intrusive.

The wider experience will be built around the company’s Holiday Plan, covering elements such as dining, wellness, snorkelling and other tropical activities.
