There is going to be one of the biggest conferences internationally held in Seoul, South Korea, in the near future, and the hotels have begun getting ready for it. The hotel brand named Shilla Stay entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Youth Day Seoul 2027 Local Organising Committee in order to provide services to bishops, international delegations, and dignitaries attending the conference. Consequently, the capacity of the hotels in Seoul has become an object of discussion.
World Youth Day Seoul 2027 will run from 3 to 8 August 2027, while Days in the Dioceses will take place from 29 July to 2 August across Korea. The main programme will then unfold across Seoul, bringing international pilgrims into the capital for religious gatherings, cultural activities and city travel. The programme includes an opening Mass, youth festivals, catechesis, a papal welcome, the Way of the Cross, a vigil and a closing Mass.

For Seoul’s hospitality sector, demand will extend beyond a single ceremony. Visitors will need rooms, transport, dining, information services and convenient access to event locations. Shilla Stay’s agreement specifically covers accommodation and dedicated hospitality arrangements for key participants.
Participating Shilla Stay properties will provide guest rooms alongside dedicated check-in arrangements and information desks for World Youth Day participants. Hotel teams will also manage guest movement within participating properties, helping separate event-related traffic from regular hotel operations.

The brand expanded overseas in April 2026 with Shilla Stay Yancheng in Jiangsu Province, China. The 223-room hotel became its first overseas property.
Hotel Shilla’s official records also show Shilla Stay ranked No. 1 in the business hotel category of the Korea Brand Power Index in 2026.
World Youth Day will bring visitors into a city packed with historic districts, shopping areas, museums, palaces, food markets and modern entertainment zones.
Myeongdong, where the accommodation agreement was signed, is a major visitor district with shopping, restaurants and central transport connections. Nearby Insadong, Bukchon Hanok Village and Gwanghwamun provide access to Seoul’s historic and cultural attractions.
For international arrivals, Incheon International Airport is the principal gateway. AREX connects the airport with Seoul Station, with express trains taking about 40 minutes and all-stop services taking just under an hour.
