Outer Reef Launches 540 Adventure Sport Yacht for Luxury Cruising and Epic Ocean Adventures

Outer Reef Yacht Group, the manufacturer of long-range cruising yachts, has introduced the new 540 Adventure Sport Yacht. This yacht is designed for the long distance cruising customer that expects luxury accommodations and amenities as well as the ability to comfortably launch and store all their favorite water sport toys. The new Adventure Sport Yacht Series improves on Outer Reef’s ability to cover 2000 nautical miles with large, expanded outdoor living areas and sport toy storage designed for longer adventures at sea.

The new yacht builds on the Outer Reef 540 Adventure platform while introducing additional space and storage for equipment used during active cruising. The design combines three-stateroom accommodation with substantial outdoor areas, water access and equipment storage, creating a yacht suited to both shorter escapes and extended voyages.

Netherlands-led Design Combines Adventure With Ocean Cruising

The 540 Adventure Sport Yacht was designed and engineered in the Netherlands through a collaboration involving Weel Sluijter Design, Studio Delta Naval Architects, Julian Moore Design and the Outer Reef team.

The yacht shares the core platform of the Outer Reef 540 Adventure and holds CE Category A Unlimited Ocean certification. This places the model within the company’s long-range cruising portfolio and reflects Outer Reef’s more than 25 years of yacht-building experience.

The design focuses on combining open-water capability with an active onboard lifestyle. Rather than concentrating solely on accommodation, the yacht provides dedicated areas and storage for equipment that owners can use while cruising.

Around 2,000 Nautical Miles of Cruising Range

Long-distance capability remains a central feature of the 540 Adventure Sport Yacht. The model is designed to deliver a cruising range of approximately 2,000 nautical miles at economical speeds.

Power comes from four 500 HP Mercury Verado V-12 outboard engines. The propulsion system provides a combination of performance and manoeuvrability while supporting the yacht’s intended open-water cruising role.

The combination of long-range capability and powerful propulsion gives the yacht flexibility across different cruising programmes. Owners can use it for shorter recreational journeys or plan longer voyages without sacrificing the yacht’s watersports-focused design.

Fold-Down Balconies Expand Outdoor Living

Outdoor living is one of the defining elements of the new model. The 540 Adventure Sport Yacht features fold-down balconies that expand the usable living area and create a closer connection with the water.

The balconies also provide direct access to the sea, making them practical spaces for swimming, watersports and relaxation. This arrangement reinforces the yacht’s focus on spending time both onboard and in the water.

The additional outdoor functionality has been incorporated without removing the three-stateroom accommodation layout inherited from the 540 Adventure platform.

Built to Carry Extensive Watersports Equipment

The yacht has been designed with substantial storage capacity for recreational equipment. The arrangement can accommodate a wide selection of gear, allowing owners to carry equipment for different activities during longer cruises.

Storage provisions include space for a personal watercraft, Williams jet tender, multiple SEABOBs, diving equipment and an onboard dive compressor. Several stand-up paddleboards can also be stored on the rooftop.

This equipment-focused layout gives the yacht a broader recreational role. Owners can use the vessel as a base for diving, watersports, tender activities and other outdoor pursuits without giving up the accommodation and cruising capabilities of the main yacht.

Three-Stateroom Layout Supports Extended Voyages

Despite the emphasis on equipment and outdoor recreation, the 540 Adventure Sport Yacht retains the three-stateroom configuration of the 540 Adventure platform.

This allows the model to balance recreational storage with onboard accommodation. The arrangement is intended to support different types of cruising, from weekend journeys and week-long trips to longer voyages.

The result is a yacht designed around flexibility. Owners can spend the day using the equipment carried onboard and then continue their journey with the facilities needed for a longer stay.

Adventure Series Gains a More Active Cruising Model

The introduction of the 540 Adventure Sport Yacht broadens the Outer Reef Adventure Series with a model aimed specifically at owners who want to combine cruising with active recreation.

Its design brings together long-range capability, powerful outboard propulsion, expanded outdoor living areas and significant equipment storage. At the same time, the three-stateroom layout maintains the accommodation expected from the 540 Adventure platform.

The model therefore occupies a position between conventional long-range cruising and a more activity-led yacht experience.

Designed for Multiple Cruising Destinations

The yacht has been developed for a range of cruising environments. Its long-range characteristics and ocean certification support extended journeys, while its equipment capacity makes it suitable for destinations where water-based activities are a major part of the experience.

Potential cruising programmes include routes in the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, the Great Loop and the Mediterranean.

The broad range of possible destinations reflects the yacht’s central design philosophy: giving owners the ability to travel long distances while carrying the equipment needed to enjoy different activities along the way.

Outer Reef Strengthens Its Long-Range Portfolio

The 540 Adventure Sport Yacht adds another dimension to Outer Reef Yacht Group’s long-range cruising portfolio.

The pre-construction sales launch of the 540 Adventure Series established the foundation for the model, while the new Sport Yacht configuration adds a stronger recreational focus. It maintains the core characteristics of the 540 Adventure but increases the emphasis on watersports, outdoor space and equipment storage.

The yacht is consequently aimed at owners who want more than a traditional cruising platform. Its design allows recreational equipment to become an integrated part of the cruising experience rather than an afterthought.

A Yacht Built Around Longer and More Active Journeys

The 540 Adventure Sport Yacht brings together several elements that are increasingly important for extended leisure cruising. Long range provides greater freedom between destinations. Three-stateroom accommodation supports longer stays. Fold-down balconies increase access to the water. Extensive storage allows owners to carry a wide range of recreational equipment.

Together, these features create a yacht intended for owners who want to combine exploration with an active lifestyle.

With its approximately 2,000-nautical-mile range, four Mercury Verado V-12 engines, CE Category A Unlimited Ocean certification and watersports-focused layout, the 540 Adventure Sport Yacht expands Outer Reef’s Adventure Series into a more recreation-oriented segment while retaining the long-range cruising characteristics of the 540 platform.
