Omaxe has entered India’s hospitality sector with a planned investment of approximately ₹6,200 crore (around US$656 million) to develop 19 hotels across 13 cities in five states over the next four to five years. The expansion aims to strengthen tourism, business travel, pilgrimage infrastructure and recurring revenue by integrating hotels with the company’s existing townships, commercial developments and public-private partnership projects.
India’s hospitality industry is set for another major expansion after Omaxe Ltd. announced the launch of a dedicated hospitality business vertical backed by an investment of approximately ₹6,200 crore (around US$656 million). The real estate developer plans to build 19 hotels covering nearly five million square feet across five states within the next four to five years, creating integrated destinations that serve business travellers, leisure tourists, pilgrims and transit passengers while supporting the country’s fast-growing tourism economy.

The ambitious expansion reflects the increasing demand for quality accommodation in emerging urban centres, religious destinations and infrastructure-led growth corridors. By combining hospitality with its established residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, Omaxe intends to create long-term value while strengthening its recurring income through professionally managed hotel assets.
Why Is Omaxe Entering the Hospitality Sector Now?
Omaxe believes the timing is right as India continues to witness rapid improvements in highway networks, airport connectivity, railway infrastructure and religious tourism. These developments are encouraging more domestic and international travellers to explore destinations beyond traditional metropolitan cities, creating fresh demand for quality accommodation across multiple market segments.

The company views hospitality as a natural extension of its integrated development strategy because hotels complement existing residential townships, retail destinations and commercial projects. Instead of operating standalone hotels, Omaxe plans to develop hospitality assets that become part of larger mixed-use ecosystems, enhancing visitor experiences while creating additional revenue streams.
What Does the US$656 Million Investment Include?
The proposed investment will be deployed in phases over the next four to five years, subject to regulatory approvals, project-specific clearances and market conditions. Once stabilised, Omaxe expects the hospitality portfolio to have the potential to generate approximately ₹1,000 crore in annual revenue, further diversifying the company’s business beyond traditional real estate development.

The hospitality portfolio has been designed to serve multiple traveller categories, including corporate visitors, holidaymakers, destination wedding guests, religious pilgrims and participants attending meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). The strategy also includes branded serviced apartments and extended-stay accommodation to address evolving traveller preferences across India’s rapidly expanding tourism market.
Where Will the New Hotels Be Developed?
Omaxe plans to establish hotels across 13 cities in five Indian states, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as the largest focus area. The company will develop 12 hotels in the state, including two in Ayodhya, three in Lucknow, one each in Prayagraj, Ghaziabad and Gorakhpur, two in Kaushambi and two in Vrindavan, reflecting the growing importance of religious tourism and expanding urban centres.
Outside Uttar Pradesh, Omaxe will develop one hotel each in New Delhi, Faridabad and Ujjain, alongside four hotels across Chandigarh, Amritsar and Ludhiana, including two properties in Chandigarh. This geographical spread allows the company to serve business hubs, pilgrimage destinations and regional economic centres with different hospitality offerings tailored to local demand.
How Will the Hotels Support Different Travel Segments?
Rather than following a single hotel model, Omaxe intends to develop properties that match the tourism profile of each destination. The portfolio will include midscale and upscale branded hotels, premium flagship properties, high-capacity pilgrimage hotels and extended-stay accommodation designed to meet the needs of different categories of travellers.
Business visitors will benefit from hotels located near commercial districts and transport infrastructure, while religious destinations will feature larger properties capable of accommodating increasing pilgrim arrivals. Leisure destinations will focus on enhancing visitor experiences, supporting destination weddings and creating spaces suitable for conferences, exhibitions and other large-scale events.
What Role Will Public-Private Partnerships Play?
One of the most significant projects in the portfolio is the 158-key Gateway Hotel being developed at The Omaxe State in Dwarka, New Delhi. The property forms part of the company’s 50.4-acre integrated destination, which is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership model in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Omaxe also plans to strengthen hospitality infrastructure through its partnership projects with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). These transit-oriented developments are expected to improve accommodation options along key travel corridors while supporting growing passenger movement across the state through modern, integrated hospitality facilities.
