The Central Asian destination welcomed more than 6.6 million international tourists between January and June 2026, marking one of the strongest tourism growth performances among destinations tracked by the UN Tourism World Tourism Barometer. The increase positioned Uzbekistan among the fastest-growing tourism markets during the period, significantly exceeding both European and global tourism growth rates.

While international tourism worldwide recorded only a 0.4% year-on-year increase, and Europe registered 3% growth, Uzbekistan’s 25% tourist arrival growth demonstrated the rapid expansion of its international visitor market. The increase reflects rising demand for Uzbekistan’s historical cities, cultural attractions, Silk Road heritage, improved connectivity and easier travel access.

Other overseas markets, including Türkiye, India and Germany, also contributed to Uzbekistan’s expanding tourism landscape. Although visitor numbers from these markets remain smaller compared with neighbouring countries, they represent the country’s efforts to diversify its international tourism base.
