Halloween 2026 Study Names Gemini the Spookiest Zodiac Sign Ahead of Scorpio and Leo, revealing how fictional horror characters compare across astrology’s twelve signs. New research examining 85 characters highlights famous villains, their birthdays and film appearances, offering Halloween travellers and horror enthusiasts an entertaining perspective on seasonal celebrations.

Halloween Astrology Study Reveals Horror Cinema’s Darkest Zodiac Signs

As Halloween 2026 approaches, a new study has revealed which zodiac signs dominate the world of horror cinema, placing Gemini ahead of Scorpio and Leo.

The research, conducted by California Psychics, examined 85 fictional horror characters, comparing their birthdays, astrological signs and appearances across film franchises.

Gemini secured first place with a perfect score of 100, followed by Scorpio with 91.4 and Leo with 89.1.

Although the findings are intended as entertainment rather than scientific evidence about personality, they offer an unusual Halloween talking point for film enthusiasts, astrology followers and travellers planning seasonal experiences.

From haunted attractions and horror film screenings to themed entertainment events, fictional villains remain an important part of Halloween’s cultural appeal.

Gemini Leads the Ranking with Jason Voorhees and Damien Thorn

Gemini emerged as the highest-ranked zodiac sign, accounting for 11 of the 85 characters analysed, equivalent to 12.94%.

Characters associated with Gemini also represented 13.83% of the franchise appearances measured in the research.

Among the best-known examples is Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, whose fictional birthday is listed as 13 June.

Damien Thorn from The Omen, born on 6 June, is another notable Gemini.

The study also identifies Mark Hoffman from Saw and characters from Bloody Birthday.

With 35 film appearances attributed to Gemini characters, the sign’s leading position reflects both the number of characters and their recurring presence in horror franchises.

Scorpio Takes Second Place with Dracula and Patrick Bateman

Scorpio ranks second with 91.4 points, despite matching Gemini’s total of 11 characters.

The sign accounts for 12.94% of the characters studied and 9.88% of franchise appearances.

Its fictional representatives include Count Dracula, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho and Amanda Young from Saw.

Two additional characters, Victor Crowley from Hatchet and Ethan Landry from Scream, have birthdays listed as 31 October.

Their connection with Halloween itself makes Scorpio particularly relevant to the seasonal findings.

Leo and Aries Strengthen Their Horror Film Reputation

Leo occupies third place with 89.1 points and ten characters, representing 11.76% of the sample.

The group includes Jack Torrance from The Shining, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Sadako Yamamura from The Ring.

Aries follows in fourth place with 79.6 points and nine characters.

Notable Aries figures include Kayako Saeki from The Grudge, Regan MacNeil from The Exorcist and Annie Wilkes from Misery.

These characters demonstrate how the research brings together different horror traditions, from supernatural stories to psychological thrillers.

Libra Completes the Five Spookiest Zodiac Signs

Libra finishes fifth with 71.5 points and eight characters.

Its representatives include Norman Bates from Psycho, Michael Myers from Halloween and Louis from Interview with the Vampire.

The contrast between Libra’s traditional astrological association with harmony and its fictional horror characters provides another playful element to the research.

Virgo, Taurus, Aquarius, Cancer, Sagittarius, Pisces and Capricorn complete the ranking.

Capricorn finishes last, with three characters and 25.9 points.

What the Findings Mean for Halloween Tourism

The research provides an opportunity for Halloween tourism operators to connect familiar horror films with interactive entertainment.

Destinations offering haunted houses, costume events, horror screenings and themed walking tours could use zodiac-inspired activities to engage visitors.

For example, Halloween enthusiasts might organise costume competitions around their zodiac signs or select horror films featuring characters associated with their birthdays.

Such ideas could complement existing seasonal attractions, although the research does not measure tourism demand, visitor spending or attendance.

How the Halloween Zodiac Ranking Was Calculated

California Psychics examined 85 characters, identifying 23 birthdays through official film material or other official sources.

The remaining 62 birthdays came from fan-maintained databases, Wikidata and similar websites.

Researchers combined character numbers and franchise appearances into a score out of 100.

“Halloween continues to evolve into a global celebration where cinema, popular culture and tourism come together to create memorable experiences. Research connecting horror characters with zodiac signs introduces an entertaining dimension that destinations and tourism businesses can explore creatively. From themed film screenings to immersive haunted attractions, these concepts can encourage visitor engagement, inspire seasonal travel and help destinations develop distinctive Halloween experiences that appeal to families, younger audiences and international travellers alike.”

This methodology is important because fictional birthdays are not always consistently established across film adaptations and unofficial references.

The results should therefore be interpreted as a lighthearted entertainment ranking rather than definitive astrological findings.

Halloween 2026 Study Names Gemini the Spookiest Zodiac Sign Ahead of Scorpio and Leo, highlighting horror cinema’s unusual connection with astrology. While the findings remain entertainment-focused, they offer fresh inspiration for Halloween costumes, film marathons and themed tourism experiences, helping audiences celebrate familiar characters through a different seasonal perspective.
