Carnival Cruise Line offers its first credit card to help guests earn rewards on purchases outside cruise vacations. This new credit card is the Carnival Rewards™ Mastercard® and as a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Barclays US Consumer Bank, a division of Barclays Bank Delaware, it offers points for everyday spending. This is a new extension for Carnival as members will now have the opportunity to earn rewards on a regular day-to-day basis with the loyalty ecosystem well outside travel days.
The new Carnival Rewards Mastercard has been designed to strengthen the recently introduced Carnival Rewards™ loyalty programme by offering members additional earning opportunities, more flexible redemption choices and quicker access to loyalty benefits. The initiative aims to help cruise guests make their spending work harder by turning routine purchases into opportunities for future Carnival experiences.

The card represents a new approach within the cruise sector, connecting everyday financial activity with cruise rewards. Members can accumulate points from purchases such as dining, shopping, travel-related spending and regular household expenses, then use those rewards to enhance future Carnival holidays.
The launch comes as travellers continue to search for ways to maximise value from their holiday spending. According to the 2026 Travel Rewards and Loyalty Report from Barclays US Consumer Bank, a large majority of travellers are focused on finding better deals and stretching their travel budgets further.

The report highlighted that 71% of travellers place importance on receiving strong value from their purchases, while 86% actively seek ways to increase the benefits gained from their travel spending.
Designed in response to these changing traveller priorities, the new Carnival Rewards Mastercard provides customers with another pathway to earn rewards while planning their next cruise. The card carries no annual fee and allows members to collect points through everyday transactions, helping them move closer towards future Carnival holidays.
By linking credit card spending with the Carnival Rewards programme, the new offering creates a more connected loyalty experience. Members can earn points while away from the ship and use those rewards to support their next cruise journey.
One of the major features of the new card is its enhanced earning structure. Cardmembers can earn increased rewards on eligible Carnival purchases, including cruise fares, shore excursions, onboard entertainment, spa services and speciality dining experiences.
Eligible Carnival transactions allow customers to earn up to 6X points, combining rewards earned through the Mastercard with additional points available through the Carnival Rewards programme.
The card also provides accelerated earning opportunities outside the cruise environment. Customers can collect 2X points on eligible restaurant and grocery store purchases, allowing everyday spending categories to contribute towards future travel rewards.
For all other purchases, cardmembers earn 1X points, ensuring that regular spending continues to generate value.
The rewards structure has been created to give members more flexibility, allowing them to build their points balance regardless of where they spend. Whether customers are booking a cruise, buying groceries or enjoying a meal at a restaurant, their purchases can contribute towards their next Carnival experience.
Beyond points accumulation, the Carnival Rewards Mastercard introduces additional benefits connected to Carnival’s loyalty status system.
Cardholders can earn Status Qualifying Stars, helping them progress towards higher loyalty levels more quickly. Purchases made using the card contribute towards unlocking additional membership benefits within the Carnival Rewards programme.
When combined with Stars earned through the wider loyalty programme, eligible Carnival purchases can help members earn up to four Status Qualifying Stars. Other purchases made using the card can also contribute by providing one Status Qualifying Star.
This integration gives frequent Carnival guests a new opportunity to accelerate their loyalty journey. Instead of earning benefits only through cruise activity, members can now build progress through spending patterns throughout the year.
The system is designed to reward customer engagement both before and after sailing, creating a continuous connection between everyday purchases and future cruise experiences.
The new Mastercard provides several benefits aimed at increasing value for both new and existing Carnival customers.
New cardmembers can receive 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
Members can also redeem points in real time towards eligible Carnival purchases, providing greater convenience when managing cruise expenses. Rewards can be applied towards qualifying Carnival experiences, including cruise upgrades.
Additional benefits include a 2,500-point anniversary bonus each year after cardmembers spend $2,000 on purchases, giving customers another opportunity to increase their rewards balance.
The card also provides a 0% promotional APR for six months on Carnival cruise booking purchases, offering additional payment flexibility for travellers planning upcoming Carnival holidays. Terms and conditions apply.
Through these features, Carnival aims to make cruise rewards easier to earn and simpler to use, while giving customers more control over how they apply their benefits.
The introduction of the Carnival Rewards Mastercard also includes a smooth transition process for existing cardholders.
Beginning this month, current customers will gradually move to the new Mastercard product during their next billing cycle. The transition process will continue throughout September to ensure a seamless experience for all existing members.
Existing Fun Points® balances will automatically convert at a one-to-one rate into new Carnival Rewards Points. These converted points will be transferred directly into customers’ centralised Carnival Rewards accounts.
The migration process allows existing cardmembers to continue enjoying their accumulated rewards without losing previously earned value. Customers will be able to access their updated rewards through the new Carnival Rewards platform.
The launch of the Carnival Rewards Mastercard highlights the cruise company’s wider strategy to expand customer engagement beyond traditional sailing experiences.
By combining credit card rewards with its loyalty programme, Carnival is creating a year-round relationship with travellers. The approach allows guests to interact with the brand through everyday spending while building towards future holidays.
The new Mastercard also reflects the growing importance of travel loyalty programmes as consumers look for more meaningful rewards and greater flexibility. As travellers become increasingly focused on value, companies across the travel industry are developing new ways to reward customer commitment.
For Carnival guests, the new card provides another route to unlock cruise benefits, earn rewards faster and create more opportunities to enjoy future voyages.
With everyday purchases now connected directly to cruise rewards, the Carnival Rewards Mastercard positions itself as a new tool for travellers seeking greater value from their spending while planning their next adventure at sea.
