MONTREAL (Canada)- Air Transat has announced a freshly negotiated tentative agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing its 2,100 flight attendants. This comes after a rigorous five-day negotiation period. The proposal, soon to be presented to the members, could become the new collective agreement for the next five years if approved.
“We are pleased to have reached a new tentative agreement that is mutually satisfactory and helps keep Air Transat competitive. Following the unexpected rejection of our initial proposal last week, we promptly reconvened for negotiations to seek all viable options. We believe this renewed offer aligns well with our flight attendants’ aspirations and effectively represents their interests,” commented Julie Lamontagne, Air Transat’s Chief People, Communications and Sustainability Officer.
Details of the tentative agreement are not being disclosed currently, as a mark of respect for the ongoing process and the forthcoming member vote.
Currently, all Air Transat flights continue as scheduled.
