With several big-ticket firms lined up with investment proposals to set foot in the long coast of Andhra Pradesh, beach tourism is likely to take wings in the state, Times News Network reported.
Although Andhra Pradesh boasts of a 974km-long stretch from Srikakulam to Nellore, the second longest coastline in the country, the potential of tourism has remained an untapped area for long.
“The state government has now set its focus on making the best use of its strength on the coast. Andhra Pradesh is blessed with diverse and beautiful natural assets, virgin beaches, backwaters, pristine forest areas, national parks, historical locations, and religious destinations. We are heading to make the best use of our natural resources,” said state tourism minister RK Roja.
According to authorities, several hospitality companies have showed interest in developing beach resorts.
Mayfair Group, controlled by former union minister Dilip Ray, is expected to enter the AP market with a beach resort project. Mayfair Group has purchased property in Annavaram village in Bhimunipatnam mandal, adjacent to the planned international airport at Bhogapuram, and plans to construct a super luxury resort and conference centre on the beach road.
Similarly, the Taj and Oberoi companies are interested in investing in the AP coast.
