Andhra Pradesh: Four tourism development projects approved by Cabinet

In a bid to meet the demands of domestic and international tourists, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has authorised four new tourism projects.


The Cabinet approved the allotment of 40 acres of land in Annavaram village of Bheemunipatnam mandal in Visakhapatnam district to Bhubaneswar-based Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Limited during its meeting on July 12. The land is provided to the corporation on a lease basis, with the condition that it create luxury villas, according to the agreement.


Mayfair would spend Rs 525 crore and build 250 villas, providing employment for around 1,750 people. The initiative is expected to generate $852 million for the state over the following 25 years.


“This apart, the Cabinet has given its nod to several other projects in a bid to give a boost to tourism development,” The Hindu quoted R.K. Roja, Minister of Tourism, as saying.


Mumtaz Hotels Limited was tasked with building 120 villas in Gandikota, Kadapa district. The luxurious villas will be built on a lease basis by the corporation.


The Tourism Department’s plan to construct infrastructure such as roads, water supplies, and uninterrupted power was also accepted by the Cabinet.


The Cabinet authorised a budget of Rs. 70 crore for infrastructure development in Annavaram, Peruru, Tirupati, and Gandikota.


The Cabinet also agreed to lease property to M.R.K.R. Constructions and Industries Private Limited for the development of a five-star hotel in Peruru and Tirupati.
