As part of the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) programG Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Tourism,has approved three projects in Andhra Pradesh, including one at the Simhachalam Temple.PRASHAD is a 100% funded central sector program.
The other initiatives were developing Srisailam Temple and Amaravati Town in Guntur District as tourism destinations.
The minister stated that a project to promote Amaravati town as a tourism attraction was sanctioned in 2015–16 with an approved cost of Rs 27.77 crore in response to a question posed by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao in the Rajya Sabha.
The Srisailam temple project, with an estimated cost of Rs 43.08 crore, was approved in 2017–18.
A Rs 54.04 crore project for the Varaha Lakshmi Nrisimha Swamy temple in Simhachalam was approved in December 2022.
The AP Tourism Development Corporation will carry out the plan’s implementation. The first installment of cash depends upon the implementing agency’s successful conclusion of the tendering procedure.
The project’s execution will take place 24 months after approval, according to the ministry.
