Today, Aruba, famously known as the One Happy Island, is launching the Language of Happiness in honor of the International Day of Happiness. This global initiative aims to spread the essence of happiness, a language that transcends words and resonates universally.

Aruba’s happiness is distinctive – it lingers long after you depart, a phenomenon known as The Aruba Effect. Thus, on this International Day of Happiness, Aruba encourages people worldwide to embrace the Language of Happiness. How? By unveiling the island’s inaugural educational video, presenting five fundamental lessons to help everyone become proficient in happiness.

  1. Gratitude: Reflect on what you’re thankful for, be it relationships, health, or the beauty of nature. In Aruba, gratitude is simply expressed as “Masha Danki.”
  2. Wellness: Prioritize self-care, recognizing that nurturing oneself is essential before tending to others. Strive for a balanced life, incorporating exercise and relaxation.
  3. Community: Aruba, with its diverse population of around 100 nationalities, underscores the significance of belonging and connection. Embrace community and extend warm welcomes to foster inclusivity.
  4. Kindness: Actionable kindness embodies happiness, a principle deeply ingrained in Aruban culture. The kindness you give and receive perpetuates a cycle of joy.
  5. Growth: Cultivate curiosity, as it fuels personal development and expands your happiness horizons. Embrace new experiences and share the joy they bring.

To disseminate these five pillars of the Language of Happiness worldwide, the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) has collaborated with seasoned travelers who have recently experienced the Aruba Effect. These ambassadors will share the educational video with their audience, recognizing that regardless of origin or destination, happiness is the ultimate universal language.
