Atal Tunnel, Rohtang set to pave way for tunnel tourism

Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, is the longest tunnel in the world above 3000 mts. It is all set to become a major tourist attraction, said Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur. This would mark the onset of tunnel tourism in India, said Thakur.

For tourism activities, infrastructure is being developed at both portals of the tunnel. The Himachal government is thinking about running glass top vistadome buses on this route for tourists. The tunnel was originally planned to be 8.8 kms in length.
