Batik Air adds routes to Kunming, Zhangjiajie, Zhengzhou in China, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan starting Feb 2024, boosting Asian travel options.
In a notable expansion of its flight network, Batik Air is set to launch new routes in February 2024, creating direct connections from Malaysia to four attractive international locations: Kunming, Zhangjiajie, and Zhengzhou in China, along with Kaohsiung in Taiwan. This initiative aligns with Batik Air’s strategy to diversify travel choices and reinforce its role in major Asian tourist markets.
Batik Air’s Group Strategy Director, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, highlighted that this expansion into China and Taiwan exemplifies the airline’s commitment to crafting international travel experiences that build bridges and enrich cultural exchanges.
“This step is a pivotal part of our mission to extend our global reach in Asia, and it reflects our intent to strengthen our position in the aviation industry while fostering commercial and cultural relationships,” he stated.
Kunming, China: A Year-Round Springtime Oasis
Positioned in Yunnan Province, Kunming, known as the “City of Eternal Spring,” invites travelers with its enchanting weather and scenic beauty throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy a diverse visual palette from the cherry blossoms of spring to the golden autumnal leaves.
Starting February 8, 2024, Batik Air will offer direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Kunming four times a week, adding convenience for those planning a trip to this picturesque city.
Zhangjiajie, China: An Ethereal Journey
The city of Zhangjiajie in Hunan province is famous for its otherworldly landscapes, often compared to the sceneries in the movie “Avatar.” The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a prime attraction with its impressive sandstone pillars.
Direct flights to Zhangjiajie from KLIA will commence on February 9, 2024, operating thrice weekly.
Zhengzhou, China: A Historical and Modern Fusion
Zhengzhou, located in Henan province, is a city that blends ancient heritage with contemporary advancements. Known as the “Golden City,” it is a significant historical and economic center in China.
Direct flights to Zhengzhou from KLIA will resume on February 9, 2024, available four times a week.
Kaohsiung, Taiwan: A Meld of Culture and Scenic Splendor
Kaohsiung in Taiwan offers a unique mix of cultural heritage and natural beauty. It is famous for landmarks such as the Lotus Pond, with its picturesque temples and pavilions.
Flights to Kaohsiung will begin on February 7, 2024, operating three times weekly. This route marks Batik Air’s second entry into Taiwan and also includes a continuation to Nagoya, Japan, enhancing connectivity with Japan.
Batik Air utilizes Boeing 737-8 aircraft for these routes, providing 180 economy seats and a 20kg baggage allowance. Additional services like pre-purchased meals and extra baggage options are available at discounted rates, with in-flight purchases also offered.
