Singapore Airlines (SIA) celebrates its reentry into the Belgian market by commencing direct flights between Brussels and Singapore. The eagerly awaited inaugural flight, SQ303, departed today, April 6, at 12:10 PM from Brussels Airport en route to Singapore Changi Airport. This milestone marks a significant moment for both Brussels Airport’s global connectivity and Singapore Airlines, reestablishing a crucial link between the Belgian capital and Singapore after a hiatus of over two decades.

With an inaugural ceremony featuring a water salute, the first Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight on this new route departed from Brussels Airport bound for Singapore today. After a 20-year hiatus, SIA is reigniting the connection between the heart of Europe and the vibrant hub of Asia. By adding Brussels to its network, SIA now offers travelers 13 gateways across Europe, underscoring its commitment to expanding travel options and connectivity.

The launch event at Brussels Airport attracted notable figures, including Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Ambassador Lim Hong Huai of the Republic of Singapore to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and Singapore Airlines’ Acting Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning, Mr. Dai Hao Yu.

“Brussels is an important European economic and political center, and the launch of this service adds another historical and charming city to SIA’s list of destinations. It also gives our customers who are travelling from Europe an additional point to connect to Singapore, as well as the wider Asia-Pacific region via our hub at Changi Airport. SIA will continue to review its network and find opportunities to offer more options for our customers,” says Dai Hao Yu.

Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company, is delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines to Brussels Airport. “Singapore Airlines is a premium world-class airline, known for its excellent service to its passengers. As a key gateway to Asia, Singapore is an important new destination in our growing Asian network. SIA is strongly committed to passenger experience, as well as sustainability, and will operate flights with the long-haul version of the Airbus A350-900, one of the most energy-efficient and quietest aircraft in its category.”

Singapore holds significance in the Belgian export economy, with approximately 9% of Belgian exports finding their way to Asia. Beyond catering to Belgian businesses and the sizable Belgian community in Singapore, the newly launched direct flight also opens doors for holidaymakers seeking fresh experiences and serves as a gateway to Southeast Asia. Renowned for its lush green parks, diverse neighborhoods, culinary delights, upscale shopping districts, efficient public transportation, and family-friendly attractions, Singapore offers a plethora of experiences.

Singapore Airlines now offers four weekly flights connecting Brussels Airport to Singapore, operated by the long-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft variant. This ensures passengers enjoy a top-tier travel experience. The flight accommodates 253 seats across three cabin classes: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class, and 187 in Economy Class. Passengers can indulge in award-winning cabin products and experience the unmatched hospitality of Singapore Airlines’ cabin crew.
