Choice Hotels donate beds at medical facilities amid COVID-19 pandemic

The U.S. based Choice Hotels International has decided to team up with mattress brand Serta to contribute to its “Stay Home, Send Beds” initiative. The program has been undertaken to provide bed donations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It would help to address the nationwide scarcity of beds at hospitals and temporary medical facilities at the hour of crisis.

Members of Choice Hotels’ Choice Privileges loyalty program can donate their points toward beds for hospitals in need. Choice Hotels will match 100% of donated Choice Privileges points for a limited time. Relief Bed International, a non-profit organization that provides beds to impoverished people and disaster victims around the world is facilitating all Serta mattress donations.

Robert McDowell, Chief Commercial Officer, Choice Hotels said in a press statement that the company is grateful to the nation’s tireless healthcare workers and their contribution to fighting the deadly virus. He mentioned that the initiative took place after recognising the increased needs and demands hospitals are facing to support and treat those affected by the coronavirus.

He informed that the hotel is looking forward to helping those who are battling the virus from the front lines. He said that the hotel aims to facilitate care for those in need, and realises every bed counts at present. He also mentions that the customers are looking for ways to safely give back to those in need during this pandemic, and the hotel is proud to give them an opportunity to do the needful by supporting communities and contributing to the important cause.

He further added that Choice franchisees are some of the most dedicated and inspiring people on the frontlines who are putting their staff and communities at the forefront of their action. He said that the company appreciates the commitment of owners in opening their doors to essential workers, providing care packages and supplies to individuals in need them. He concluded that every little effort is making a difference in numerous other ways for hotels and communities during this time of need.

In addition, Choice hotels are offering discounted rates to essential workers and volunteers serving communities across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company’s ‘Choice Cares’ rate is available at participating locations to all workers and volunteers identified by the Department of Homeland Security as Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers.
