Sleep Inn, the esteemed limited-service lifestyle brand under Choice Hotels International, Inc., renowned for its contemporary, nature-inspired, and chic aesthetics, has unveiled the interior specifics of its newest prototype, Scenic Dreams. Crafted in partnership with developers, proprietors, and operators, this revamped Sleep Inn prototype showcases redesigned guestrooms and communal spaces that harmonize with the distinctive exterior tower and the distinctive purple accent lighting introduced in April 2023. Consumer testing has revealed that the Scenic Dreams prototype notably enhances guests’ inclination to stay, all while maintaining its position as one of the most cost-effective options to construct and manage in the midscale segment.

“Choice Hotels strives to bring an intentional approach to design and development, ensuring that every new concept not only withstands the test of time but also has the potential to deliver noticeable results to our owners’ bottom lines and guest satisfaction scores,” said Jason Cowan, senior vice president, signature development, Choice Hotels. “The next generation of Sleep Inn incorporates inviting, wellness-focused elements that cater to the needs and senses of modern travelers. Coupled with its low cost to build and operate, the new look of Sleep Inn stands out in the midscale space and is the perfect fit for growth-minded owners.”

Introducing Nature-Inspired Interiors:
The interior of the Scenic Dreams prototype embodies Sleep Inn’s commitment to offering a rejuvenating and serene retreat, drawing inspiration from the natural world to create an indoor environment that evokes the sensation of being outdoors. Developed in close collaboration with owners and operators, the design underwent meticulous customer research and testing to ensure a unique and enhanced guest experience, while upholding its cost-effective construction and operation.

The newly revitalized interior is characterized by its bright and spacious ambiance, featuring signature murals depicting natural landscapes, soothing color palettes, and contemporary wooden accents. These elements are carefully crafted to complement the iconic exterior purple tower and its distinctive lighting accents. Additionally, the interior design prioritizes efficiency through a well-planned layout and room configurations that minimize wasted space and streamline operational workflows. Key efficiency features include strategically positioned back-of-house areas, adaptable furniture arrangements, abundant AC and USB outlets, and surfaces that are easy to maintain and clean.

“It was exciting to work with Choice on the Sleep Inn Scenic Dreams prototype. From the owner’s perspective, they really listened to us and took our feedback and made changes to improve the guest experience while keeping our costs low,” said David Burton, President, Burton Hotel Group and owner of The Sleep Inn & Suites Round Rock. “When people walk into this hotel, they instantly feel like they’re walking into a refreshed hotel that helps them immediately recharge.”

Several additional updates and additions have been made to enhance efficiency for hotel owners and guest satisfaction:

  1. Stylishly designed lobbies now feature open floorplans and large windows, accompanied by a front desk welcome wall. This wall consists of illuminated abstract natural wood cutouts reflecting the changing night sky, complemented by updated signature murals. Developers have the option to select from eight distinctive mural designs, each showcasing different natural landscapes including coastlines, palm trees, pine forests, maple trees, open fields, dense forests, desert vistas, and majestic mountains.
  2. Modernized guestrooms now offer increased functional spaces, along with light dimming and smart thermostat capabilities. Regional artwork adds a personalized touch. Developers can select from four calming color schemes: dusk, starry night, twilight, and dawn.
  3. Breakfast areas have been revamped to cater to guests’ diverse needs. These areas can now be zoned into three distinct spaces, including a game room, TV room, and flexible workspace.

Enhancing Guest Experience for Active Travelers:
Sleep Inn remains dedicated to providing guests with a satisfying stay at an affordable price. The Scenic Dreams prototype introduces expanded wellness offerings, including fitness centers and complimentary premium access to the BetterSleep sleep and relaxation app. Designated outdoor spaces encourage guests to connect with nature throughout their stay. Additionally, Sleep Inn provides a complimentary hot breakfast, tea blends at the signature Dream Cup Station, and a Dream Corner Marketplace stocked with essential items. Guests also receive QR codes for curated lists of nearby hiking trails through Sleep Inn’s partnership with AllTrails. Over 90% of Sleep Inn hotels are conveniently situated within an hour and a half of a national park.

Sleep Inn is a participant in Choice Privileges, an award-winning rewards program where members earn points on eligible charges during their stay, which can be redeemed for reward nights at more than 7,000 Choice-branded hotels.

Sustainable Innovation: Reducing Environmental Footprint
The new prototype prioritizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient LED lighting, a linen and towel reuse program, and low-flow shower heads and faucets. Water refill stations encourage guests to minimize single-use plastics, while select locations offer electric car charging stations. Every detail of the hotel’s layout and room designs has been carefully planned to minimize material, supply, and labor expenses.
