Starting September 2024, Wanda Wen, the visionary behind the renowned paper design studio Soolip, will host a series of artistic workshops in the greenhouse at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.

Open to both hotel guests and the public, these workshops are designed to ignite creativity through hands-on experiences in fine paper arts and design. Classes are priced at USD 245 per person, covering expert instruction, all necessary materials, light bites, and beverages. Each ticket also grants day-access to the hotel’s newest pool area, The Cove.

Fall 2024 Workshop Schedule

• Saturday, September 21 | Paper Play Stationery and Card Making | 9:00–11:30 am
  Learn to create unique personalized stationery with handmade papers, pressed flowers, wax sealing, and more. Participants will leave with ten custom note cards, ten gift tags, and a J. Herbin fountain pen with two ink colors.
• Saturday, September 28 | Pixels to Thread | 9:00–11:30 am
  Transform your photos into tactile art pieces using needle and thread. This workshop introduces a variety of stitches, including running stitch and French knots, to add texture and dimension to your creations.
• Saturdays, October 5 and 19 | The Art of Copperplate Calligraphy | 9:00–11:30 am
  Over two sessions, explore copperplate calligraphy with a sharp pointed nib. Suitable for all levels, the course includes a Starter Calligraphy Kit, distributed at the first session.
• Saturday, October 26 | From Paper to Pen to Page | 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
  Start by creating and hand-binding a journal using handmade papers and hand-dyed ribbons. Then, practice expressive writing techniques to delve into personal storytelling.
• Saturday, November 2 | Paper Alchemy | 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
  Dive into collage art, blending color, form, and texture to create meaningful pieces. Materials are provided, including select papers from the artist’s collection.
• Saturday, November 23 | Photo Journal Book Making | 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
  Design a personalized album using key principles like narrative sequencing and image curation. Participants will create a stitched, soft-cover 6-by-8-inch album with handmade paper.
• Saturday, November 23 | The Art of Gift Wrapping | 1:00–3:30 pm
  Master the art of gift wrapping with Wanda Wen’s expert techniques. Discover the secrets behind Soolip’s beautifully wrapped gifts.
• Saturday, December 7 | The Making of an Enchanted Fairy House | 3:00–6:00 pm
  Create an heirloom-quality fairy house using stained birch wood and hand-carved miniature furniture, perfect for the holiday season.
