Delta Air Lines has announced the appointment of Judith McKenna to its board of directors, effective February 7, 2025. Ms. McKenna brings extensive global business experience, having most recently served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart International. During her tenure at Walmart, which concluded with her retirement in January 2024, she oversaw the company’s operations outside the United States, playing a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation across diverse markets.

Delta Air Lines welcomes her leadership and expertise as the company continues to strengthen its position in the global aviation industry.

“We look forward to welcoming Judith to the Delta board of directors,” said David Taylor, Delta’s non-executive Chair of the Board. “Judith’s deep leadership and global management experience, as well as her relentless passion for care for customers and employees throughout organizations, will contribute meaningfully to Delta’s board.” 

Ms. McKenna dedicated 27 years to Walmart, holding prominent senior leadership positions both in the U.S. and internationally. Her tenure culminated in 2018 when she was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart International, following her role as Chief Operating Officer of Walmart U.S. and various other leadership roles. Before joining Walmart, she served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Asda, Walmart’s UK-based supermarket chain.

During her career, Ms. McKenna also held significant governance roles. She served as Chair of Walmex, Walmart’s business across Mexico and Central America, which is listed on the Mexican Bolsa. Additionally, she served on the boards of directors for Flipkart, a leading Indian e-commerce platform, and PhonePe, a prominent Indian payments and financial services company. Currently, she is a non-executive director of Unilever PLC.

Ms. McKenna earned her law degree from the University of Hull in England and qualified as a Chartered Accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales while working at KPMG. In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in law from the University of Hull in 2014.
