Delta Airlines recently announced that they will merge with CVS Health to accelerate COVID-19 testing for their employees. This will rebuild confidence in travelling for the customers via Delta Airlines, said a company spokesperson. Owing to the pandemic spread, airlines are rethinking their health safety measures to ensure new-normal travel amidst maximum security and health care.
The airlines added further that a rapid-test will further reduce chances of COVID spread by encouraging awareness about Delta’s health safety measures. Joanne Smith, Delta’s executive vice president, stated that since there are no single method available to reduce virus spread, and the airlines staff are moving at all time, they have decided to undergo a partnership with CVS to ensure reliable testing and offer travel safety.
Recent travel surveys have highlighted the fact that people have discontinued travelling decision owing to apprehensions regarding health safety. For instance, American airlines experienced a steep decrease in travel bookings in past few months, and the reports of sudden surge in virus infections further demotivated travellers, and forced people to discontinue even official tour bookings.
It has been also studied that four of the prominent U.S. airlines suffered a combined loss of about $10 billion between April and June. Though their CEOs mentioned that these companies will struggled and survive, but have reduced their expectations of experiencing adequate air travel movement.
Delta stated that the CVS Health ‘Return Ready’ testing will be supervised by a clinician at Delta hub crew lounges as well as will define if the virus is active within 15 minutes of administering the test.
