Spring break travel has arrived, and Denver International Airport (DEN) anticipates a surge in passenger numbers, reaching record levels. The outgoing traffic from Denver, coupled with the influx of inbound travelers aiming to make the most of the remaining weeks of ski season, is set to make DEN exceptionally bustling. From March 12 to March 30, the airport foresees over 1.2 million passengers passing through TSA checkpoints, marking a 6.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The peak travel days, expected to see over 80,000 passengers each day, are March 16, 17, and 22.
Before embarking on your spring getaway, DEN offers some valuable tips for travelers. It’s advised that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their boarding time to ensure ample time for baggage check, security clearance, and reaching their gate. Longer security lines are anticipated, particularly during peak periods which are 4-5 a.m., 7:30-9:30 a.m., and 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Here are some travel pointers for passengers navigating DEN during spring break:
TSA
Passengers are advised to utilize real-time security wait time updates on FlyDenver.com to select the most efficient checkpoint. Additionally, travelers can enroll in expedited screening programs like TSA PreCheck and CLEAR, or utilize DEN RESERVE for a more predictable security experience.
