UAE Stands Alongside China and More in Boosting Thailand Tourism Growth With Strong Summer Visitor Demand
Thailand tourism growth increased due to a surge in UAE travellers in 2026. Thai tourism witnessed a significant boost during the 2026 summer travel season as UAE visitors became one of the biggest Middle Eastern inbound traffic sources and joined China and several other key markets in fueling Thailand’s tourism boom. Influx of Gulf visitors helped propel Thailand’s visitor numbers with Emiratis making high spending leisure travelers who stayed longer and spent more on tourism.
According to tourism figures, Thailand welcomed 89,057 UAE tourists during July and August 2026, reflecting a sharp rise in summer travel demand. The increase highlighted the growing importance of the UAE tourism market for Thailand, particularly during the peak holiday season when travellers from the Gulf often seek international destinations offering luxury experiences, beaches, wellness, shopping and family-friendly attractions.
UAE Becomes a Major Force Behind Thailand Tourism Growth During Summer 2026
The summer period proved especially successful for Thailand’s tourism industry, with UAE visitors accounting for nearly one-third of all Middle East arrivals during July and August 2026. The strong performance placed the UAE among Thailand’s most important international visitor markets during the period.
Thailand recorded 46,540 UAE visitors in July 2026, followed by 42,517 visitors in August 2026. Together, the two months generated a total of 89,057 Emirati arrivals, showing consistent travel demand throughout the summer season.

Daily arrival patterns also reflected strong movement from the UAE market. Thailand welcomed an average of approximately 1,501 Emirati travellers every day in July and around 1,372 visitors per day in August.
The figures showed that the UAE market remained resilient even after the July peak. Although August arrivals were lower than July numbers, the UAE’s overall share of Middle East visitors increased, demonstrating the market’s continued strength.

UAE Visitors Represent More Than One-Third of Thailand’s Middle East Tourism Market
The UAE’s contribution to Thailand’s tourism growth became particularly visible when compared with overall Middle Eastern arrivals.
In July 2026, Thailand welcomed 140,026 visitors from the Middle East, with UAE travellers representing 33.24% of the total regional arrivals. This meant approximately one out of every three Middle Eastern visitors arriving in Thailand during the month came from the UAE.
The momentum continued in August. Thailand received 123,887 Middle East visitors, including 42,517 Emirati travellers. The UAE market increased its regional share to 34.32%, despite the overall number of UAE visitors declining slightly from July.
Across both months, Thailand welcomed 263,913 Middle East visitors, while UAE nationals accounted for 89,057 arrivals. This gave the UAE a 33.75% share of Thailand’s Middle East tourism market during the summer period.
The strong performance confirmed the UAE’s position as the leading Middle Eastern source market for Thailand during July and August 2026.
Thailand Sees Strong Growth From UAE Travellers Compared With 2025
The rise in UAE arrivals was also reflected in year-on-year comparisons. Thailand recorded significant increases in Emirati visitors compared with the same months in 2025.

In July 2026, UAE arrivals reached 46,540 visitors, representing a 22.13% increase compared with July 2025, when Thailand welcomed 38,107 UAE travellers.
August showed even stronger growth. The number of Emirati visitors reached 42,517, which was 47.72% higher than the 28,781 UAE tourists recorded during August 2025.
These figures indicate that Thailand continued strengthening its appeal among Gulf travellers, with the summer season becoming an important period for international arrivals and tourism revenue generation.
China and Other Global Markets Continue Supporting Thailand Tourism Expansion
While the UAE delivered strong growth from the Middle East, Thailand’s tourism recovery continued to depend on a diverse range of international markets. Major Asian source markets, including China, remained central to Thailand’s visitor economy, alongside other regional and global markets.
China has historically been one of Thailand’s largest tourism markets, contributing substantial visitor numbers through leisure travel, group tourism and independent travel segments. Alongside China, markets across Asia, including Malaysia and India, have continued to play an important role in supporting Thailand’s international tourism performance.
The combination of strong Gulf demand and continued Asian market participation has helped Thailand maintain broader tourism momentum. The growth from different regions has also created opportunities for hotels, airlines, tour operators and luxury travel businesses across the country.

High-Spending UAE Travellers Strengthen Thailand’s Tourism Revenue
The impact of UAE visitors extends beyond arrival numbers. Emirati travellers are recognised as a high-value tourism segment because of longer stays and stronger spending patterns.
Tourism spending data from 2025 showed that an Emirati visitor typically stayed in Thailand for around 11.1 days and spent approximately Dh9,558 per trip.
Using these average figures, the 89,057 UAE visitors who travelled to Thailand during July and August 2026 generated an estimated Dh851 million in tourism spending.
The same visitor numbers created approximately 988,500 visitor nights, highlighting the economic importance of the UAE market for Thailand’s hospitality sector.
During the first eight months of 2026, Thailand welcomed 126,378 UAE tourists. Based on average spending levels, these visitors generated an estimated Dh1.21 billion in tourism revenue and contributed around 1.4 million visitor nights.
Luxury Travel Demand Creates New Opportunities for Thailand’s Tourism Sector
The continued growth of UAE arrivals reflects Thailand’s ability to attract travellers seeking premium tourism experiences. Gulf visitors have shown strong interest in luxury accommodation, personalised services, wellness experiences, shopping destinations and high-quality leisure activities.

Thailand’s tourism industry has increasingly focused on attracting higher-value visitors rather than relying only on visitor volume. The UAE market supports this approach because travellers often contribute significantly through accommodation, dining, retail and premium experiences.
The summer 2026 performance demonstrates how international diversification is shaping Thailand’s tourism future. With UAE travellers standing alongside China and other major markets, Thailand’s tourism sector continues to benefit from rising demand across multiple regions.
Thailand’s tourism growth was fueled by the rise of UAE travellers, along with China and other key markets, during the summer peak season, spurred by surging international arrivals.
The strong UAE performance in July and August 2026 reflects the deepening ties between Thailand and Gulf visitors, as well as the country’s growing appeal as a global leisure, luxury and extended-stay tourism destination.
