The beloved Capistrano Lights: Mission in Lights is back for another festive season at the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano, running on select dates from December 7 to December 29. This annual celebration brings the magic of the holidays to life with dazzling lights, festive music, family activities, and a touch of history in one of California’s most iconic landmarks.
This year, Capistrano Lights introduces several new performers and features, making it a must-visit holiday destination for all ages. Highlights of the event include:
In addition to these new features, guests can enjoy traditional favorites such as marionette shows, prayer candles, and seasonal refreshments.
Families are invited to participate in hands-on crafts provided by Crafty Cruiser by AR Workshop. A large 10-foot Christmas wreath offers the perfect photo opportunity, while community Christmas trees and family wreath displays add to the festive atmosphere. The event also includes a lighted California poppy garden, scented citrus garden, and illuminated halo palm trees in the Mission’s Central Courtyard.

Refreshments are available from 3:16 Bakery Shop, with wine and beer provided by Rancho Capistrano Winery and Mission Brewing on select days.
Capistrano Lights offers an immersive experience that combines the spirit of the holidays with the rich history of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Tickets include all-day access to the Mission from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, along with a multi-language Capistrano Lights audio tour. The main holiday programming runs from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, allowing visitors to explore the Mission’s historic beauty during the day and enjoy the illuminated festivities in the evening.
Opening night on December 7 will feature extended hours until 7:30 PM, with a special welcome ceremony led by Reverend Monsignor J. Michael McKiernan, pastor of Mission San Juan Capistrano.
