The Goa tourism division is expected drive getting consent for its planned and chosen tourist strength, at the Goa Tourism Board’s (GTB) seminar which has been arranged this week.

The suggestion was also deliberated at the last GTB seminar. However, it did not find support from the government.

Possibly, the suggestion was sent to the government. However, a source said that they consider that the
home division is not quite ardent regarding this plan.

The source added that they would nonetheless emphasize on having more workers allotted for tourism
responsibility, particularly to be set up at beaches.

The source said that for watching beaches and preserving an impression of system, the division has
deficiencies for sufficient staffs for organization.

Furthermore, the division requires fully relying on cops to take action against sellers and vagrants who throng the beaches when there’s no police guarding.

The source said that although some cops are deployed for beach responsibilities, their numbers are still
insufficient, and there are also beach stretches with no police. Some beaches tend to get packed on weekends and have the need of police observation.

A few months before, Goa tourism minister Rohan Khaunte criticized the police for not doing sufficient to
fend off touts, sellers and tramps trying to take advantage of tourists on beaches and other tourist
areas. After his uproar, Calangute forces detained numerous peddlers and hawkers wandering on the
beaches under its authority, and also seized their goods.
